Story: Sooryavanshi is a 2020 Indian Hindi-language action film directed by Rohit Shetty and written by Sajid-Farhad. Produced by Shetty, Karan Johar, Aruna Bhatia, Hiroo Yash Johar and Apoorva Mehta, it is the fourth installment of Shetty's Police Universe and features Akshay Kumar as the titular character opposite Katrina Kaif. The film co-stars Gulshan Grover, Abhimanyu Singh, Niharica Raizada, Jackie Shroff, Sikandar Kher, Nikitin Dheer and Vivan Bhatena, while Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh reprise their roles of Singham and Simmba from the franchise's previous films in cameo appearances.
Kumar's character was announced towards the end of Simmba that served as a character introduction of Sooryavanshi.[3] He is playing DCP Veer Sooryavanshi, the chief of the Anti-Terrorism Squad.[4] Principal photography for the film began in May 2019 and was completed in November 2019. It is to be theatrically released in India on 27 March 2020.

It is about the life of king Prithviraj Chauhan and stars Akshay Kumar in the lead role of Chauhan, while Manushi Chhillar (in her film debut) plays his wife Samyukta. The film was officially announced on 9 September 2019, which marked the occasion of Kumar's 52nd birthday,[1] with a motion poster released on social media. Principal photography of the film began on 15 November 2019,[2] and it will be theatrically released in India on 13 November 2020 during the Diwali festival.
