1) Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade

Review: You believe the grill actually exists  the search for the cup of Christ is the  search for the divine in all of us but  if you want facts Indy I've none to give  you my age I'm prepared to take a few  things on faith we're about to complete  a great quest but began almost 2,000  years ago  the Holy Grail dr. Jones the chalice  used by Christ during the Last Supper  the cup that caught his blood at the  crucifixion and was entrusted to Joseph  of Arimathea the earth religion I've  heard this bedtime story before this is  the manuscript in which the friar  chronicled the Knights story  it doesn't reveal a location of the  Grail I'm afraid but the knight promised  the two markers that have been left  behind would this tablet is one of those  markers it proves the Knights story is  true our project leader has vanished  along with all his research I want you  to pick up the trail where he left off  find the man and you will find the Grail  why don't you try my father we already  have your father is the man who has  disappeared you have your father's eyes  at my mother's ears Jenya don't call me  that please  after the German Army's on our tail and  you want me to go to Berlin into the  Lions Den equation for the Grail  there's no naki about you it's race  against evil if it is captured by the  Nazis the armies of darkness will march  all over the face of the earth Germany  has declared war on the Jones laws  [Music]  trying to kill I know  see all the time where's my father  they have them in the belly of that  steel feast  [Music]  Henry George Jr like Indiana renamed the  dog Indiana rod named after the dog  [Music]  on 24th of May 1989 Indiana Jones  returns at a big screen in the Last  Crusade arriving first in the USA it  made its way across to the UK in June  and throughout the rest of the year  worldwide with Raiders of the Lost Ark  costing just under twenty million  dollars The Last Crusade clocked in at  nearly 50 million with Indiana Jones  already proving a huge success twice  with audiences the at the time final  entry in the series followed suit and  made 474 million dollars worldwide the  film was met with rave reviews from  critics and fans alike  despite comparisons being made to  Raiders of the Lost Ark with returning  characters and similar plot beats 1989  was a year of sequels and new franchises  Tim Burton's Batman pretty much  dominated the box office  although Batman was the most popular  film in the USA that year worldwide The  Last Crusade took the crown was the most  successful film earning 16 million  dollars more at the box office factor in  Batman's heavy sales in merchandise  though and it was the most profitable  property of that year it seemed after  the failed toy range based on Raiders  toy manufacturers gave up on optioning  merchandise on the film series there  were of course whips hats and jackets  available so you could dress up like  Indy but toys were very much a thing of  the past for this franchise  luckily plenty of video games were  available based on the Last Crusade  which will be discussed later  for the last Crusades video release  which came with diet coke promotions  director Steven Spielberg had campaigned  to get his film released in widescreen  on VHS as he hated how he's filmed her  pan and scan to fit the TV aspect ratio  this was also highlighted by Siskel and  Ebert in 1990 but paramount would not  budge as many people didn't like having  black borders at the top and bottom of  the picture so Steven had to settle for  having his film available in widescreen  on laserdisc which was always the  preferred format to watch movies as  originally intended 1980 Falls the  Temple of Doom despite being popular at  the box office wasn't the film many had  wanted his stark nature and change of  tone have resulted in some lukewarm  reviews Lucas and Spielberg really  wanted to rectify that and return to the  spirits of Raiders and for Indies final  adventure they wanted to go out with a  bang Lucas had initially suggested the  idea of having the third movie be set in  a haunted mansion encountering a ghost  who reveals a Fountain of Youth in Afric  spielberg wasn't keen on this i did  because it bore similarities to his 1982  film poltergeist lucas went ahead anyway  and completed an eight-page treatment  titled indiana jones and the monkey king  the story saw indiana encountering a  ghost in scotland before finding the  Fountain of Youth in Africa and going up  against tribal cannibals Spielberg had  produced a number of successful films  throughout the 80s on brought on Chris  Columbus had written gremlins The  Goonies and young Sherlock Holmes he  would expand on George's treatment  introduce a bunch of new characters to  torn Indiana on his quest and bring back  the Nazis for him to battle  Columbus further refined his script  while the production team started  scouting for locations in Africa but  everything was halted due to Spielberg  and Lucas having reservations because of  its possible negative depiction of  African natives and because they felt  the script was too unrealistic it was  moving into the realms of fantasy and  further away from granted reality of the  character Spielberg suggested the idea  of introducing Indiana Jones father  Henry Jones senior as the main focus of  the plot but Lucas was dubious believing  the Fountain of Youth should be the main  direction  Spielberg convinced him in the end that  the father-son relationship would serve  as a great metaphorical backdrop to  Indiana's search for the artifact  Spielberg wanted to develop easily ideas  and bought on the writer of his 1985  film the color purple instead of the  Fountain of Youth the quest became the  hunt for the Holy Grail Spielberg was a  bit wired with the idea of the Holy  Grail as he didn't want people to think  of Monty Python he depicted Indiana  searching for his father in the South of  France where he meets a nun and a  relationship develops Indiana travels to  Venice takes Orient Express to Istanbul  and continues by train to Petra where he  meets Salah AM unites with his father  then together they find the Grail a lot  of this material would end up in the  final draft in some form or another the  ending in this script was a lot  different what was finally in the movie  at the climax are Nazi villain touches  the Grail and explodes when Henry  chapters it he ascends a stairway to  heaven the ending was dropped and later  changed to a battle with a demon at the  Grail site where he defeats it with a  dagger inscribed with God is King a  prologue was introduced to the movie  where we are shown Indy at a younger age  Spielberg suggested making Indiana a boy  scout as both he and Harrison Ford were  former Scouts this sequence was set up a  number of moments that demonstrate how  he became the man we know today  Spielberg felt that the script needed  further revisions and suggested  Innerspace writer Jeffrey bow  Jeffrey spent two weeks reworking a  story with Lucas which yielded a  treatment that is largely the final film  Jeffrey told George that Indiana should  find his father in the middle of the  story as the previous films ended with  Indiana obtaining the objects I didn't  want to follow a similar pattern Jeffery  felt it would be best for them to lose  the Grail and let the father-and-son  relationship be the main point it was a  search for Indies own identity and  coming to accept his father than being a  quest for the Grail which is the  direction Steven Spielberg really wanted  to go for the cast we have many  returning characters of course house on  Ford is back as Indiana Jones he was  very happy with the direction of the  story he loved the idea of introducing  Indies father because it allowed him to  explore another side to Indiana's  personality Lake River Phoenix was cast  as indeed in his teenage years Phoenix  had played the son of Ford's character  in the Mosquito Coast Ford recommended  Phoenix for the part he said that of the  young actors working at the time  Phoenix looked the most like him when he  was around that age also Phoenix does a  really good job of capturing Ford's  mannerisms owned to the positive  reaction to the movies prologue George  Lucas was inspired to develop the young  Indiana Jones chronicles TV show which  lost it for three seasons running from  1992 to 93 Sean Connery was cast as  Indies father Professor Henry Jones  a professor of medieval literature who  cared more about looking for the Grail  than raising his own son Spielberg had  always had Connery in mind when he  suggested introducing Indiana's father  Spielberg had been a fan of Connery's  work as James Bond and felt that he was  the perfect choice a Spielberg always  wanted to direct a James Bond film and  the Indiana Jones movies were his window  into that and having James Bond played  in his father was ideal Connery  initially turned the role down as he's  only 12 years older than Ford but he was  eventually persuaded Connery as a  student of history began to reshape the  character and revisions were made to the  script to address his concerns he  improvised a line she talks in her sleep  which was left in because it made  everyone laugh on set Irish actor  Allison Doody plays doctor Elsa  Schneider on Austrian art professor who  is in league with the Nazis but has her  own desires on the Grail she manages to  seduce the Joneses in her attempts to  gain more information on the Grails  location Doody started her career in  modeling and got a first screen role in  a view to a kill before she appeared in  the Last Crusade she also starred along  pierce brosnan in caffeine well goes on  in this town is none of your business as  long as I'm living here it is maybe  [Applause]  denim Elliott returns as dr. Marcus  Brody Elliott returned dr. Spielberg  sought to recapture the tone of Raiders  following the character's absence in  Temple of Doom also John rhys-davies is  Bacchus Salah Julian Glover was cast as  Walter Donovan an American businessman  who sends the Joneses on their quest for  the Holy Grail  Donovan secretly works for the Nazis and  desires immortality I'm sure Star Wars  fans will recognize him from the Empire  Strikes Back where he played general  veers kavik Malakian plays Kazim the  leader of the Brotherhood of the  cruciform sword an organization that  protects the Holy Grail malakian had  impressed below that with his  performance in Midnight Express and last  but not least we have the late Robert  Edison as the gray or Knight the  guardian of the ground who drank from  the cup of Christ during the Crusades  and is immortal as long as he stays  within the temple Edison was 80 years  old at the time and majority of his  career was spent on stage he had worked  in TV but had smaller roles in film he  was nervous but excited about taking the  role and often questioned his  performance between tanks but he had  nothing to worry about despite his small  role he left a lasting impression  principal photography began on May 16th  1988 and the shooting lasted for 163  days with the increased budget the  number of shooting locations also grew  making use of Spain Venice Germany  Jordan Utah California Texas Colorado  and England where most of the interior  locations were created at Elstree  Studios around this time Spielberg was  shocked to learn that cannon films was  planning to sell the studio cannon was  bleeding money and needed to cut their  losses  Asuna had been operating at a loss for a  while Stephen felt it was going to be a  major blow to the UK film industry if  the studio was lost to redevelopment a  large chunk of the studio was later sold  and the lots were torn down and replaced  with a Tesco supermarket when Spielberg  and editor Michael Kahn started working  on a rough cut the film in late 1988 I  thought the movie suffered from a lack  of action so they included a motorcycle  chase during post-production miss  Skywalker Ranch to finish off the movie  Spielberg needed something extra to say  goodbye to the series so they went and  shot Indiana Henry Salah and Brody  riding off into the sunset in Texas in  early 9  in 89  [Music]  the film is set two years after the  events of Raiders India's returned from  another adventure and is swamped with  school papers to grade he can't handle  the stress and escapes from his office  he is approached by a group of men who  work for Walter Donovan water is a  collector of ancient artifacts and has  an obsession with finding the Holy Grail  very much like Indies father Indy  suggests he contact his father but water  informs him he has gone missing he was  already on the case looking for it for  Donovan using an incomplete inscription  as his guide Indy heads to his father's  home and finds it trashed as if someone  was searching for something  he then remembers that he received a  parcel which turns out to be his  father's Grail diary mailed from Venice  realizing that he would not have sent  the diary unless he was in trouble  Indian Marcus traveled to Venice where  they meet Henry's Austrian colleague dr.  elder Snyder beneath the library where  Henry was last seen Indian Elsa discover  the tomb of the First Crusade Knight  which also contains a complete version  of the inscription that Henry had used  revealing the location of the Grail they  flee when the catacombs are set aflame  by the Brotherhood of the cruciform  sword a secret society that protects the  location of the Grail to avoid it  falling into the wrong hands  about chase ensues with Indy captain  Kazim in details chasm that his goal is  own to find his father that he has no  interest in finding the Grail cousin  tells him that Henry is being held in  castle bran walled marcus later reveals  a map drawn by Henry of the route to the  Grail which begins in Alexandretta  Marcus heads out to rendezvous with our  old friend Salah and Indian Elsa head to  the castle our castle bran walled Indy  locates his father but learns that Elsa  and Donovan are actually working with  the Nazis meanwhile Marcus is captured  while waiting for Salah the Joneses  managed to escape from the castle Henry  tells Indy that to reach the Grail one  must face three traps and his dog  contains two clues to guide him through  the challenges safely but they must head  to Germany to retrieve the diary as he  doesn't remember the clues they record  the diary from Elsa had a book-burning  rally in Berlin and then need to escape  Germany to finally complete the quest  for the Grail  [Music]  1989 was a busy year for george lucas's  of visual effects company Industrial  Light and Magic working on many movies  with large amounts of effects needed  such as Back to the Future Part 2 the  abyss Leviathan Ghostbusters 2 and of  course the Last Crusade as with all the  indie films Last Crusade made use of  matte paintings miniatures blue screen  optical work and even early digital  compositing the visual effects of the  indie series to me were little  inconsistent and didn't showcase  Island's finest work the movies had  great isolated moments on map paintings  and miniatures but a blue screen work  was always very wobbly the year this  came out I LEM did incredible work on  back to Future Part 2 and Ghostbusters 2  which both pushed the old-school methods  of visual effects to the limit without  computer-generated materials to tidy up  the visuals the Last Crusade though  didn't have much in terms of large-scale  visual effects the beauty of the Indiana  Jones films is the approach to doing  lots of the action in camera the whole  plane sequence with Indiana's father  escaping the Nazis always looked bad  even when I saw as a kid seeing in HD  didn't do him any favors it has the  typical issue the loss of color when  combining the elements Spielberg is  doing a lot of ambitious shots that blue  screen can't really make look realistic  I'm surprised they didn't do any front  projection work with it just to get rid  of the black matte lines the shots of  the Zeppelin from a distance look really  good and the optical work stands up well  but you have this hilarious shot of the  general shaking his fists in anger at  Indy as a Zeppelin flies away the whole  shot seems flat and just doesn't work  for me but then you could argue the fact  that there's a b-movie by design to  homage the action serials of the past  and that the effects were never  realistic and had very few visual  effects to begin with but I'm sure i  lemmed in going with that intention of  making it look bad but it's just their  inherent problem with their over  reliance on blue screen to achieve  everything now there are some very  effective shots in this movie that  really demonstrated the creativity of  the folks at ILM stop-motion animation  was used for the shot the German  fighters wings breaking off as it  crashes through the tunnel the tunnel  was a 210 feet model that occupied 14 of  AI limbs parking spaces for two months  it was built in eight-foot sections and  each section could be opened up to film  through when Indy and his father drive  alongside the plane it's all done in  camera his seamlessly blends with a  miniature that careers down the tunnel  passes them an event  explodes the hidden bridge is an  inspired idea when you see it in the  film it's like a magic eye trick it  seems invisible and as the camera turns  it reveals to bridge this was achieved  before being filmed in front of a blue  screen for the scene which was completed  by a model of the bridge filmed against  a matte painting for the death of  Donovan as he drinks from the wrong cup  Spielberg wanted him to grow old all in  one shot that his life is taken away  very quickly  a shot of Donovan's death was created  over three months by digitally  compositing the footage with help from  the morphing software developed the year  before on willow to show the transitions  three puppets of Donovan were created in  separate stages of decay shooting them  with time-lapse photography a fourth  puppet was used for the final decaying  form of Donovan Skelton being hung on  wires like a marionette this whole  sequence really impressed me as a kid  and for a pg-rated movie it's pretty  gruesome Last Crusade was a nice way to  end this series at the time it combines  old methods of visual effects throughout  but throws in a new technique that would  come to dominate the visual effects of  the 90s  [Music]  John Williams returned to compose the  score to the Last Crusade this will be  Spielberg and Williams night's  collaboration the score as usual with  Williams is full of counter and charm it  isn't the same music recycled from the  previous films he brings on new themes  to the Nazis Indies father and the Grail  because of the added humor there is a  light touch to the score and musical  cues that add a bit of playfulness to  the music it really complements the  moments between India and his dad and  then trying to deal with a difficult  situation they are put in the film was  less action orientated than the others  southern music has a change of direction  the film opens with this wonderful  playful theme for the young Indiana the  music does a superb job of reacting to  the action beats with Indy avoiding all  the obstacles in his way as he escapes  from the grave robbers the music itself  is a little like the Battle of Endor  from Return the Jedi and even moments of  hook that Williams composed two years  later the Raiders theme which is  essentially Indiana's main March doesn't  really pop up that much in the film and  only really kicks in for the final shot  as he rides off into the sunset while  the end credits roll but there are a  couple of moments when Williams brings  in the theme for when Indy does what he  does best and it's always glorious when  you hear it I've reviewed a number of  films now that was caused by John  Williams and it's difficult to find more  to say about him he is the master and  has given us so much wonderful music  over the years a film score is so  important to a movie and without  Williams genius indiana jones star wars  superman harry potter Jurassic Park and  et to name but a few just wouldn't be  the same a soundtrack arrived on CD and  LP in 1989 with raffia now was worth of  music it certainly wasn't a complete  release it was later reissued in Japan  with an extra minute or two but still  not all of the music John had composed  in 2008 Concord Records published a box  set with the music to all four indie  films which I had discussed in my rages  review Last Crusade scored total about  76 minutes so an extra 20 minutes of  music was made available this box set  has been out of print for a long time  and fetches high prices on the  second-hand market but thankfully the  music to all the films is now available  on  toons with little merchandise based on  the film we thankfully have some video  games The Last Crusade game arrived in  two flavors the first one was published  by us gold it turned up on every  platform available all the 8-bit  microcomputers Amiga Atari ST NES which  was handled by Ubisoft Game Boy Game  Gear Master System and Sega Megadrive  consisting of five levels the first two  have The Adventures of Indy as a  teenager trying to escape from the grave  robbers  surprisingly the spite of indie has him  looking like his older self throughout  these stages apart from the Amiga a  notorious T versions they go to the  effort of having him in this Scout  outfit there will fall has a change of  location on some of the computers with  Indy fighting Nazis on the blimp or in  the castle where he locates his father  it then jump straight to the resting  place of the Grail between levels there  are cutscenes to help tell the story and  the graphics vary in detail depending on  the power of the hardware the game  didn't receive favorable reviews at the  time but sold well due to the obvious  popularity of Indiana Jones especially  on the ZX Spectrum I played this as a  kid on the Commodore 64 and Mega Drive  and found both versions frustrating to  play the game itself can be completed in  say 15 minutes or so but the difficulty  is amped up to artificially extend the  game The Master System version is really  tough one hit from someone and you're  dead even if they just walk into you  Indy's whip works like a gun so you  can't use it all the time you have to  essentially pick up ammo to be able to  use it yeah that makes perfect sense you  are also on a tight time limit so you  also have to locate power-ups to extend  the time ultimately it's just another  generic platformer and a pretty lazy  attempt at translating the movie in 1991  tighter got hold of the license and  released their version for the NES they  thought scenes between levels are very  detailed and the programmers mix up the  gameplay to include a few puzzles that  provide some variety to the game and  even choose what levels to tackle it  also comes with a great soundtrack there  are puzzles to complete driving segments  and traditional platforming action the  final levels has you working your way  across the floor to avoid traps as you  spell out the name of God with the  welcome changes to the game and variety  of gameplay it sadly is way too short  but far superior to the Ubisoft release  still if I paid like fifty pound for  this back in the day I would have been  furious now the best game based on The  Last Crusade is to point a click  adventure game for the  PC Macintosh FM towns Amiga and Atari ST  developed by Lucasfilm games  this version follows the movie's plot  closely as you solve puzzles and speak  to people for clues as you work your way  through the locations to complete the  journey to find your father and the  Grail you have to make sure you ask the  right questions though otherwise you'll  fail your mission or just get stuck the  game got rave reviews back in the day  with most magazines scoring it just over  90% Portugal co-venture games aren't for  everyone as it requires reading lots of  text and it isn't something you can pick  up and play for short bursts I love this  game as a kid but never got to play for  an extended period of time  my friend had it freeze Atari ST and we  only played it for a short while  as we couldn't figure out how to go and  see also Donovan so my friend got  frustrated and wanted to play something  else I only had a Commodore 64 at the  time so I have no chance of playing it  myself as I mentioned in my review of  Raiders of the Lost Ark there was a game  for the Super Nintendo in 1994 titled  Indiana Jones greatest adventures that  combined all three movies into one game  the game has six stages dedicated to the  Last Crusade with one level where you  control the plane as you escape from the  Nazis with some nifty mode 7 graphics  playing very much like super Star Wars  trilogy  it has great graphics and is easy to  pick up and play but can be very  difficult so bear that in mind if you  intend to seek it out now before I  discuss my final thoughts on the last  who say let's have a quick look at the  Kingdom of the Crystal Skull which I  will review in more detail in the future  now I never imagined I'd see a fourth  movie there was of course talked about  it for years and even scripts were  started but never greenlit and Spielberg  was very much hesitant about doing the  fourth he felt that the trilogy had  ended perfectly as I think most other  people did I'm sure many of us would  happily see a new film but would still  agree that the Last Crusade is really  where it ended  Harrison Ford really wanted to bring  Indy back he encouraged George Lucas and  Steven Spielberg to come back to the  series so 19 years after the Last  Crusade we got another entry in the  series when they released a teaser  trailer for the film everyone got so  excited it was a brilliant trailer and  once you hear the opening notes to the  Raiders theme and you see the shadow of  Indy produce hat on the hairs on the  back of your neck stand on end that's a  joy of having a great theme tune once it  was released however  it left many disappointed it wasn't as  bad as say The Phantom Menace which had  a bigger negative reaction but in  default was just underwhelming and  ultimately forgettable there are some  nice moments in it  I like the majority of the first and  second act but when he gets the jungle I  really tune out and lose interest the  idea of being a nod to 50s B movies was  definitely the right way to go but it  wound up being a watered down version of  what we loved about the character the  violence was especially cut down a bit  too much CGI was added and dealing with  interdimensional aliens I felt was a bit  misguided so many great stories have  been spun out the film's with video  games and books what George Lucas came  up with was just uninspired the  production values are very good however  with fantastic production design and  simmer photography Crystal Skull cost in  the region of 185 million dollars so  they ought to be the first one cost just  under 20 million I think the huge  salaries take up most of that cost for  the actors producers and director I  think I imagine everyone involved knew  this was going to be a huge hit no  matter its qualities you get that  feeling that everyone involved is just  going through the motions and kind of  phoning it in apart from House and Ford  who seems very invested in playing the  character again I personally think they  left it way too late to return to  Indiana Jones Houston was in his mid  60's he was in great shape for his age  but a bit long in the tooth to be doing  all his action scenes and for it to be  believable if this happened in the mid  nineties it would have been perfect I'm  sure many hardcore fans who have waited  for nearly two decades to see Indiana  again on the big screen were left  heartbroken now there is talk of a fifth  movie that has been written at the  moment and his plan for a release in  2020 I think now making this to  apologize for the last one I don't think  Houston was particularly happy with the  end results of Kingdom in the Crystal  Skull and apparently George Lucas is not  involved so hopefully things may work  out for the better we just have to  remember to not get our hopes up too  much  October my ears why were you  when the film was released in the summer  of 1989 I was nearly 6 years old and do  recall seeing advertisements for the  film  I remember the video games on store  shelves in shops such as WH Smiths - but  I wasn't aware of who Indiana Jones was  that year it was all about Batman and I  was far too young to even sing that at  the cinema which deeply annoyed me but  it wasn't long till I finally got to see  dr. Jones in action during this time  Temple of Doom was being repeated on TV  and I thought it was awesome my opinions  on this movie have changed over time  by seeing him for the first time as a  child I became a fan like everyone else  it wasn't till a year later that I got  to see the Last Crusade even when it  came out on VHS you had to be quick to  rent it as it will be off the shelves  every weekend even at a young age I saw  the qualities of the Lost crusade the  story humour action and adventure all  worked for me I wound up watching this  movie the most my local rental store  didn't have Raiders to rent as it was an  older film it was difficult sometimes in  the VHS days if I film hadn't been  re-released on the format you'd have to  go hunt down an old copy when you're  surviving on pocket-money you're not  going to put down 15 pounds for a brand  new tape you would rather wait for it to  be on TV so you could record it like a  cheapskate now I have gone on record and  said this is my favorite film of the  series  I think objectively Raiders of the Lost  Ark is probably the best of the series  but subjectively the Last Crusade just  tips over for being the best for me it's  combination of humor and fleshing out  India as a character just made it for a  more enjoyable experience Raiders and  Temple of Doom gave us just enough  information on him as a person for us to  be informed of his desires and what he's  out to achieve we all know he is a good  person and above all a teacher who wants  to learn and educate others Indy is not  out for personal gain in terms of wealth  but for knowledge which makes him an  honorable person a nurse in the respect  of the audience is also what makes him  so endearing but the Last Crusade went  one step further and we got to see a  different side to him the opening  prologue shows us that he is already  following in the footsteps of his father  but willing to go one step further in  his efforts to preserve treasures of the  past it's great to see India too young  age but the whole sequence is a bit on  the nose with its desire to show all the  trades Indy picks up like using the whip  and how he got the hat the Lukie adopts  after being inspired by the grave robber  we do find out why in  as a scar on his chin just like Harrison  in real life which is a nice bit of  continuity the sequence ends with an  example of India and his father's  difficult relationship Indiana has been  a very solitary person he doesn't hold  down relationships and is very much a  one-man operation  there isn't any indication that he is  depressed or feeling lonely and I still  think he likes to baggage of a regular  life in the last crusade there's an  obvious friction between him and his  father he opens up to him when he says  they have never had a normal  relationship and hardly ever spoke but  in his father's defense he said he  wanted to teach Indiana self-reliance  when Indiana is given the opportunity to  speak freely with his dad he doesn't  know what to say so in that instance  they are very much alike they aren't  good at showing their emotions and they  seem to get on far better when  discussing the whereabouts of the Grail  one of the great moments is when Henry  believes he has lost his son he finally  opens up and says how much he cares for  his son  revealing if he had only a few more  minutes to tell him how much he loved  him the beauty of this scene is that  there is a nice slice of humor thrown in  as it knee pops up behind them to wonder  what they are looking at Henry shows his  true colors only for a brief moment then  forgets everything and moves on with the  mission with the running joke of Henry's  diminutive Lea calling Indy jr. he  finally shows his son the respect he  craves when he's reaching for the Grail  Henry just says Indiana to get his  attention and tells him to let it go in  this one moment Indiana desires to Grail  for himself but has shown the way by his  father who discovers what he values most  above all and that's his son this is of  course a nice allegory for our two main  characters in his search for a cup that  would bring him eternal life Henry Jones  finds that real immortality has been  there all along in his progeny in having  to let the grow and therefore the power  of immortality go Indy learns that he  can't control everything and that  bringing home the prize isn't what will  make his father respect him the whole  relationship and what has been building  up to with this one scene makes the Last  Crusade the strongest of the series with  its characters and emotional core it  really makes you care for Indy and his  father you want them to repair their  difficult relationship it's two stubborn  men who struggled to speak their mind  when it comes to their emotions and it's  through the hunt for the Grail that they  discover what's more important to them I  thought the quest for the Holy Grail was  a great direction  Tides the King Arthur legend through the  Templar  it is a story that everyone is familiar  with it is also a story that is wrapped  in mythology and rumor a Xindi himself  early on dismisses these as bedtime  stories he makes a distinction between  searching for fact and searching for the  truth fact his concrete and  non-negotiable the basis of archaeology  whilst truth is more about belief now  even though the distinction may get  little lost along the way it at least  doesn't fall into the realm of  conspiracy like in the fourth film where  the factual existence of crystal skulls  is bypassed for pure fantasy if you love  the Indiana Jones movies for their  action then you may be disappointed with  the amount in the last whose side  Spielberg was obviously aware of that  and threw in an extra sequence at the  last minute but it's still a bit light  overall Indy doesn't really use his whip  or his pistol that much  it certainly doesn't reduce the level of  violence like the kingdom of Crystal  Skull however Indy still gets armed and  shoots two bad guys it shifts to a more  character-driven peace which in fact  benefits it greatly if the main story of  father and son was poorly written no  amount of extra action would have saved  it he's finding that balance to offer  enough action would also provide us with  an interesting story that we care about  Steven Spielberg is an absolute pro when  it comes to that he never puts the  action first and forgets about the story  as Spielberg was unhappy with the Temple  of Doom he wanted to return to the  spirit of Raiders and he may have gone a  tad too far perhaps because the Last  Crusade does draw quite a few  comparisons to that film dealing with  another religious artifact the enemies  being the Nazis the return of Salah and  a similar battle in the desert I don't  find us to be a problem at all but it  was something that was highlighted when  it came out and it's pretty obvious heck  return the Jedi repeats the ending of  Star Wars and got away with it it is the  traditional blueprint for sequels give  them something familiar add something  new but don't go too far or you lose  your audience the Last Crusade is  certainly a more polished movie when it  comes to Raiders which has a more of a  handmade feel to it  Raiders is a tad more gritty and dirty  which reflects its love for the old  tools of the past  Chris a does continue that method but  it's more lavish locations and ambitious  script really call for a larger budget  and maybe to the hardcore fans some of  the magic may have been lost it was rare  for a third movie in a series to be as  good as the first or even surpass it as  Phil Berg said the wave crusade ends  with having Indy ride off into the  sunset was  the curtain on the series and that  decade it was now time to move on to  other films and it was his way of  maturing as a filmmaker Raiders was made  when Spielberg was young and out to  prove that he can make a movie with a  tight budget and still get it released  on time giving the studio's faith in his  ability to deliver  he's moving 1941 was a costly bomb at  the box office  an industry cast doubt over him and his  credibility he proved them wrong and  radius was a monster hit with critics  and audiences the Last Crusade  demonstrated his maturity but still  retained a slice of his youth were his  wonderfully executed action sequences  and an abundant sense of fun temblor  doom didn't really progressed a series  as it was set before the events of  Raiders so there wasn't this sense of  moving forward the Last Crusade is a  perfect follow-up to Raiders and we got  more of an insight into Indiana Jones  and his world it showed us that he felt  unloved by his father and that the quest  for the Grail was a burden on their  relationship but despite those frictions  whose mission wasn't to find an artifact  this time but to save his father and  ultimately their relationship there was  more to Indiana Jones and just  preserving history  [Music]  I never expected to see you again bad  penny  I always turn step back now dr.  Schneider if dr. Jones some room he's  going to recover the Grail force huh  impossible what do you say Jones ready  to go down in history  the Grail is mine  are going to get it for me  we get to Alexandra we will face two  charges first the breath of God only the  penitent man will pass  the Word of God only in the footsteps of  God will he proceed the path of God only  in the leap from the lion's head will he  prove his worth  [Music]  hateful  [Music]  you can't save him when you're dead the  healing power of the Grail is the only  thing that can save your father now it's  time to ask yourself what you believe  [Music]  [Music]  [Music]  you get Indiana  [Music]  let it go  [Music]  if you enjoyed the video don't forget to  Like and subscribe if you want to gain  early access to my retrospective reviews  episodes are fix it in post and  commentary podcasts you can pledge to my  patreon thank you  [Music]

2) Batman

Review: You ever heard of the healing power of  laughter  get out of here Batman or so Batman came  out in 1989 it was directed by Tim  Burton and it was a very different kind  of Batman that we had there were some  dark graphic novels I came out before  then but this was the first one that  mainstream audiences got to be like wha  so that's Batman no pound no swap no  swap and they get hit all really dark  gothic shit all right that's cool I mean  you had Michael Keaton his Batman some  people were like what but a little known  fact about comedic actors they have a  dark side inside them they can pull from  that it's why they're funny because they  deflect with humor he totally worked as  Batman he didn't talk a lot when he was  in the suit he was just like you know  walking around like I'm Batman that's  how he said it he didn't have a throat  infection like that although I preferred  the bail Batman that's just me that like  Christian Bale Batman was more stealth  than Michael Keaton's Batman I mean  Michael Keaton's Batman used stealth  tactics like he'd jump off a roof people  look down he's gone but in the end  Christian Bale's Batman was Ninja Batman  I like Ninja Batman the funny thing you  think about things like you know Vicki  Vale is his love interest in this movie  it's Kim Basinger she has her Padawan  obi-wan Kenobi braid on the side of her  head from the 80s and she's like oh  what's with that Ally and then they do a  lot of digging and find out ah Bruce  Wayne's parents were shot in that alley  you think that would be common knowledge  to be like Bill Gates parents being  killed I think everyone would know about  that but I guess this is a different  take on Bruce Wayne and Batman Begins  Bruce Wayne's a public figure in this  Batman he's just as rich guy who knows  rich people and I guess a lot of people  don't know about his past  yeah well that's fair enough one of the  downsides in his movies Commissioner  Gordon I like the Commissioner Gordon  that works with Batman they collaborate  you know they do cool things for trying  to take out crime did you see that the  mob is really prominent in this movie  crime is huge no one likes Gotham it's  just it's the pits but Commissioner  Gordon never works with Batman I mean he  gets the bat-signal at the end of the  movie but really there's no  collaboration I feel like if  Commissioner Gordon was never in this  movie at all the movie would be no  different - kind of sucks to make  Commissioner Gordon kind of a weak  character like that but one of the  strongest points in Batman is Jack  Nicholson's Joker in fact this movie  should have been called Joker that's  more or less the origin story of Joker  and Joker just killing everything so dey  call it Joker and Jack's Joker for what  they were  this movie was completely awesome I can  see where he fries the guy with the  electric ring he's just like he had that  crazy lack for people laugh so hard like  they're out of breath I would I like  about this is there's no definitive way  to be like oh that's the only Joker that  exists ever I say that about Heath  Ledger's Joker but in reality it's all  opinion I mean the movies are kind of  like comic books and graphic novels you  have different stories different takes  different writers different ways they  portray the characters and that's what I  like about this if you like Heath  Ledger's Joker awesome you have that if  you like Jack Nicholson's Joker awesome  you have that with all these different  takes on the Joker character in the  Batman stories you can kind of pick your  poison but I am gonna compare this to  the Christopher Nolan Batman's because  well it has the Joker and his Batman and  well he's done that too and for me I  loved this Batman so much because of the  Joker when I was younger and then the  Christopher Nolan Batman came out and I  found a Joker that I personally liked  more so then I looked back at this  Batman and I'm like hmm I like this  Joker less than the Heath Ledger Joker  personally so the movie loses a bit of  its gravity for me because the one that  carried the Batman movie in 1989 was  Jack Nicholson's Joker makes sense a  doesn't mean however Batman is a  kick-ass action movie it has a cool  villain played by a really good actor  who I will say was probably born to play  the Joker in 1989 I will say less acting  was applied from Jack Nicholson playing  The Joker because it was just natural to  him he's Jack Nicholson on screen in  fact I don't even know if he knew he was  being filmed that being said it worked  for the movie and this Batman was a leap  it was a really ballsy move to take  Batman it is such a dark tone since  before that we had pound man wampa never  like okay I'll have Joker fry people  with a ring the only person I've ever  met who didn't like this movie was this  real art freak back and looked the 80s  or early 90s my family knew her she shit  a chicken when the Joker and his crew  that one guy that looked like a Bobo  from Double Dragon was just going nuts  painting over all those paintings yeah  she didn't like the movie after that I  laughed just because she didn't like the  movie I wasn't a dick as a kid I swear I  will always have a spot in my heart for  this movie I bought it on blu-ray and so  I will give it the rating I would buy it  and did buy it on blu-ray however if you  live and die by the Nolan movies and  you've never seen this movie before you  might hate it because it just doesn't  have what you've grown to love just  being realistic I'm not saying it should  or shouldn't be like that that's just  this situation all right so your  favorite Batman villain of all time  we're talking favorite Batman villain  and where he or she was represented  graphic novel movie cartoon animation  doesn't matter comment below let me know  and as always if you like what you've  seen here and you want to see more click  right here to see more

3) Back to the Future Part II

Review: it's a little matter we need to talk  about you have money right well forget  it no not money Gray's sports Almanac  you heard him girls  party's over hi doc what's going on huh  where are we when are we we're  descending toward Hill Valley California  at 4:29 p.m. on Wednesday October 21st  2015 2015 me where in the future I gotta  check this out  don't talk to anyone don't touch  anything don't do anything don't  interact with anyone and try not to look  at anything  shark still looks faking I don't get it  I thought you said they said something  to do with my chance a man fly I've seen  you around your Marty McFly's kid aren't  ya Beth must be rough being named after  a complete Butthead what's that supposed  to mean hello hello anybody home I don't  think my fly think look what happens to  our son  have you made a decision about tonight's  opportunity you know I was thinking  about I'm not sure because I just think  you know my bill will be dangerous it's  a complete limp what's this all right  see a souvenir 50 years of sports  statistics hardly recreational reading  material morrow hey doctor what's the  harm and bring it back a little info on  the future I didn't invent the time  machine to win at gambling I invented a  time machine to travel through time hey  Doc I'm all for that  what's wrong making a few bucks on the  side  so stuff Braun invented a time  I don't get it doc I mean how can all  this be happening it's like we're in  Hell or something no it's Hill Valley  although I can and I shall be much worse  thank you may be fine the time continuum  has been disrupted creating an alternate  1985 it's the top of Biff's came I mean  all bit from the future cracked it was  in the time machine because Biff was in  the time machine in the sports Almanac  it says right here that this made his  first million setting on a horse race in  1958 he wasn't just lucky he knew  because he had all the race results in  sports all that that's how he made his  entire fortune we're gonna go back to  1955 I don't believe it  very familiar  I'm back from the future  in late November 1989 Back to the Future  Part 2 arrived on the big screen  produced on a budget of 40 million  dollars this was shared with part three  which was shot once filming wrapped on  part two it went on to gross over three  hundred and thirty million dollars  worldwide making it the third most  successful film of 1989 falling just  behind Batman and Indiana Jones and the  Last Crusade although successful it  didn't manage to match the box of his  numbers of the first film falling 50  million dollars short the reviews from  critics were a bit more mixed for part  two with some feeling it didn't have the  heart of the first movie that it was  overloaded with gadgets and visual  effects but many praised it for its  story for showing Marty and Doc jumping  between the future in the past in their  attempts to obtain the sports Almanac  Universal Studios had wanted to pursue a  sequel after part 1 producer Bob Gale  and director Robert Zemeckis said they  would only do it if Michael J Fox and  Christopher Lloyd would sign off on  another thankfully Fox and Lloyd were  happy to return Lea Thompson and Thomas  Wilson were just as happy to come back  but Crispin Glover proved more difficult  Crispin Glover had wanted to do the  sequel but he was offered less than half  the amount of Lea Thompson and Thomas  Wilson despite having equal screen time  in the original script he felt that was  too low and wanted to be paid fairly  Crispin had said in interviews that the  information provided by producer Bob  Gale on the commentaries and  documentaries on the DVDs and blu-rays  is entirely false it was claimed Glover  wouldn't do it because he demanded too  much money and wanted the same pay as  Michael J Fox when they decided not to  cast Crispin they killed his character  off for the alternative 1985 time period  and used another actor for the future  scenes they used a makeup molds from the  first film to create Glover's likeness  for the scene set in the future but  without his permission Crispin sued them  for stealing his likeness without paying  him he won and the lawsuit resulted in  the rules of the Screen Actors Guild to  be changed so studios had to seek  permission from actors and pay them  accordingly the amount of footage or  representation used Elisabeth Shue steps  into  the shoes of Claudia Wells as Claudia  left a business due to her mum falling  ill Lizabeth shoe has great comedic  timing but unfortunately they stuck a  terrible wig on her head james tolkan is  back as strickland and loaded with a  shotgun it's like he just walked off the  set of he-man the movie shit we have  cameos from Elijah Wood in his first  role on film Jason Scott Lee is one of  Griffes thugs and Billy Zane who is  hilarious in this film Mark McClure also  returned but he scenes were cut out  marty finds him being thrown out of  beefs casino it's a shame this scene  wasn't left in because it shows more of  Marty's family instead of just his mum  and his brother shows a lot of pain and  emotion in one short scene Bob Gale  wrote most of the first draft by himself  as Robert Zemeckis was busy making Who  Framed Roger Rabbit the film's third act  was supposed to take place in 1967  Zemeckis thought the idea was good but  felt it would be more interesting to  return to the first movie and look at it  from a different point of view but also  they wanted to go to the Old West for  the final part the script at this point  was becoming way too big so they decided  to have the Old West be part of the  third movie so Universal commissioned  part 2 & 3 to be shot back to back once  principal photography was finished on  part 2 they jumped on to part 3  but while shooting the final film Robert  Zemeckis would spend a couple of hours  in the evenings supervising edit and  sound mix of Part two it took 11 months  to get both movies shot so he had a  constant workload with little sleep one  of the biggest challenges was designing  the future Robert Zemeckis wasn't a fan  of film 6 in the future and it was the  least interesting part of making the  film for him  Zemeckis said he was somewhat concerned  about portraying the future because of  the risk of making wildly inaccurate  predictions production designer Rick  Carter didn't want to portray a darker  future as seen in Blade Runner and Terry  Gilliam's Brazil but a future that was  more optimistic and had a great sense of  hope and connection with nature Rick  Carter and his team spent months  plotting planning and preparing Hill  valleys transformation into a city of  the future  they designed loads of crazy outfits and  gadgets  hoverboards self-drying jackets and  self-lacing shoes god i would love to  have a pair of those shoes robert  zemeckis believe they got about fifty  percent right about the future and their  predictions of technology most of the  technology we all wanted like flying  cars and hoverboards are still a dream  there has been prototypes of the flying  skateboards but nothing that would be  sold commercially or even work without  the use of magnets below the board  itself they use things like video calls  which is just modern-day Skype and  paying for things with your thumb an 80s  themed cafe is something you might find  but more so in a bar slash club  environment for a place to listen to 80s  music perhaps it's so crazy that no one  could predict the Internet and in the  film everyone still uses a fax or send  messages also I don't think many of us  are desperate to wear two ties maybe it  will catch on with the fashion eccentric  hipsters in London that will give me  something else to laugh at them for  overall the costume design and use of  colors really reminds me of the future  world that was a later depicted in  demolition man and even the alternative  world shown in Super Mario Brothers 2  movie in the future they are throwing  out their laser discs hey I'll have  those the movie opens where the first  one ended Doc Brown arrives in his  upgraded DeLorean and persuades Marty  and Jennifer to come back to the future  to help their future children as I take  off Biff comes out and sees the car  speed off into the sky as a depart to  the future arriving on October the 21st  2015  Jennifer begins to get over excited to  see their future selves so doc  electronically knocks her out to avoid  her knowing too much about her future  they land in the back streets of future  Hill Valley Marty is keen to check out  the future but doc in his paranoia warns  him not to do anything or interact with  anyone that could possibly change the  space-time continuum  Doc Brown explains why they are there  and informs Marty that his son will  participate in a robbery with Biff's  grandson Griff Marty enters a retro 80s  cafe aiming to switch places with Marty  jr. but his son arrives too early and he  has to hide as Grif enters to make his  deal about the robbery Marty jr. doesn't  want to take part but being the coward  he is he nearly gives in to Chris  demands after be  threatened marty hides his son and takes  his place we're fusing Griffes offer but  Griff cowards Marty into a fight by  calling him chicken  Marty tries to take him on and fails but  escapes and grabs a kid's hoverboard  Griff and his gang attempt to chase him  down but their hoverboards collide and  they smash into the clock tower they get  arrested thus changing the future and  saving Marty's children from jail before  rejoining doc Marty purchases the gray  sports Almanac a book detailing the  results of every major sporting event  from 1950 to 2000 in a cheeky attempt to  make some money  however doc discovers the magazine and  lectures Marty about attempting to  profit from time travel but before doc  can adequately dispose of it the police  have found Jennifer incapacitated and  take her back to a home in 2015 just  before doc landed to pick up Marty Biff  leaves the cafe and surprised to see a  flying DeLorean bringing back memories  from 1985 dr. Marty pursue Jennifer as  does Biff who has overheard their  conversation about the magazine and time  travel  Jennifer wakes up in a 2015 home and  hides on the McFly family noticing her  future life with Marty is not what she  expected due to his involvement in a car  accident crushing his dreams of being a  musician attempting to escape the house  Jennifer bumped into a 2015 self and  they both fate while Martin docket enter  abyss steals a time machine and uses it  to travel back to 1955 to pass on the  Almanac to his younger self then returns  to 2015 I was all surprised to see Biff  in such pain when he returned but in a  deleted scene you see him fade away from  time which is a scene that should have  been left in Marty doc and Jennifer  returned to 1985 unaware of Biff's  actions when they get back they quickly  realize everything has changed  dramatically in the cities in a state of  disrepair Biff has become wealthy and  corrupt and has changed Hill Valley for  the worse making it feel like a  nightmare for Marty in this present time  Marty's father George was killed in 1973  Biff has forced Marty's mother to marry  him and Doc has been committed to an  insane asylum doc and Marty find  evidence that the old Biff on the future  used a time machine and deduced that he  changed the past  so Marty confronts 1985 Biff who says he  received the Almanac on November 12 1955  the same date of hill valley storm Biff  also reveals that he was the one who  shot George as he prepares to kill Marty  docker eyes and incapacitates Biff  allowing him and Marty to flee to 1955  where they must change the past to save  the future the Oscar nominated visual  effects didn't use any digital  compositing or CGI for its main effects  all were achieved using the traditional  methods motion control blue screen  opticals map paintings and miniatures  there is one sequence in which  Industrial Light and Magic did dabble in  computer graphics for the jaws  holographic shark used to promote jaws  19 the film was considered one of the  most groundbreaking projects for ILM one  of the most challenging aspects was  shooting the sequences with the same  actor playing different roles and making  them interact with each other they  developed a new camera called the  Pfister glide motion control system  which enabled them to shoot complex  sequences in which Mockridge a fox play  three separate characters Marty senior  Marty jr. and Marlene although such  methods were not new the Vista glide  camera allowed for the first time a  completely dynamic scene in which camera  movement could finally be incorporated  the technique was also used in scenes  where Thomas Wilson Christopher Lloyd  and Elizabeth's shoes characters  encounter and interact with their  counterparts nowadays achieving this  effect would be far easier but for the  time it was very difficult and they  managed to push the old analog effects  to the max but what always bugged me was  why they had Michael J Fox in drag I'm  sure they could have had Elisabeth Shue  portray their daughter  it seems Marty as the dominant gene in  their family and everyone looks like him  the hoverboards were achieved using  wires so all the actors were hooked up  to harnesses and flown around the set  the effects team did a great job  rotoscoping  out the wires to hide them for the  flying cars a administers filmed with  motion control cameras very much like  they did on Star Wars there is Yod shot  with a car to look a bit faded due to  the optical process and black outlines  in some places but I think the effects  have really stood up over  on the way the cars come right at the  camera and fly out a frame was pretty  daring to do with miniatures and the  blending with live-action footage was  done to a very high standard for the  time there are a few shots that look  pretty bad most obviously when Martin  uses the hoverboard in the tunnel the  blue screen shots are really badly  composited however part two was one of  the last big movies by ILM to  incorporate traditional effects it was  pretty soon they jumped on to computer  animation and digital compositing  alan silvestri is back to compose the  score to part two gone is to focus on  pop music and more attention is spent on  the film score to fill in the movie  soundtrack diversity brings back a  familiar classic themes and makes great  use of the main march for the title  sequence with the darker tone of the  second movie the music follows suit the  score doesn't really introduce much more  in terms of new pieces of music a lot  dust sound copy and pasted from the  previous film most of what standard knew  to me was the alternative 1985 sequence  which perfectly fits the tone of the  scenes but also many cues sounded like  they were taken straight off  Alan's work on predator other composers  have been criticized for copying pasting  their work but if you listen to a lot of  service fees big scores around this  period they do all sound very familiar  and I think he has got away with it  avoiding any strong criticism I think  maybe he put all these ideas into the  first film and became a bit stuck with  part two trying to expand it enough to  make it sound different if you say  listen to Star Wars a new hope and then  pop on the Star Trek to Empire Strikes  Back you can hear a wider range of music  whereas with back to Future Part one and  two you probably wouldn't know which  score belonged to which film don't think  I don't enjoy the score it's great music  and perfectly complements the film but I  just wish there was more variety and  creativity to the music a soundtrack was  released at the time on CD and tape  thirteen tracks were included and only  about 44 minutes of music was released  for many years the fans had to obtain  bootlegs to hear the complete score by  thankfully from the 26 of October 2015  in trata have released the score in its  complete form it's only in limited  numbers so make sure to pick it up  before it goes out of print  back to Future 2 got released across  many gaming platforms at the time  hitting the ZX Spectrum Commodore 64  amiga Master System NES and Super  Nintendo the 8-bit microcomputer  versions Amiga and Marston releases were  all the same game that the courted  graphics and sound varying on each  platform but I'm going to concentrate on  the Amiga release because it has the  nicest graphics the first level you  control Marty on his hoverboard as he  tries to escape Chris Kang and you faced  off against Griffin II the end level 2  you have to get Jennifer to escape her  future House level 3 is a platformer  game you control Marty in the  alternative 1985 walking around punching  thugs then the next level you have a  simple puzzle to solve then go back onto  the hoverboard to steal the Almanac of  Biff again follows a similar structure  to May the ocean movie tie-in games the  graphics and sound are pretty good but  it can be frustrating to play and it's  not very long  you can probably complete the game in 30  minutes the NES version published by LJN  came bundled with a game on part 3 both  games were awful in part 2 you play as  Marty in this clumsy platformer that  bears little resemblance to the film you  are supposed to find 30 items and return  them to their rightful places in time  and also collect clocks yeah just like  in the film dear oh dear it kind of  looks and plays like a very poor version  of Super Mario don't waste your time  playing this turd the best version to  own is the Super Nintendo version  released only in Japan in 1993 titled  Super Back to the Future Part 2 it was a  very colorful and cartoony version of  the film  you control Marty again on his  hoverboard as you make your way through  various stages based around the film it  makes a refreshing change to play a  decent back to future game on a Nintendo  console and it has the music from the  film so it's definitely worth checking  out since the release of part 2 & 3 the  popularity of the series has still  remained strong and once the trilogy had  ended people were still wanting more  despite the live-action films having  finished the cartoon series turned up in  September of 91 and lasted two seasons  taking place after the third film  Christopher Lloyd shot live-action  segments for each episode but was voiced  by dan Castellaneta I'm sure many know  him as the voice of Homer Simpson  however Thomas Wilson did return to do  the  voice of Biff the series has been out of  print for years a number of episodes  turned up on VHS and laserdisc but  thankfully the series was included in  the recent 30th anniversary set in 1993  the back to future ride opened at  Universal Studios Florida and proved one  of their most successful rides the  legendary visual effects supervisor  Douglas Trumbull filmed the exciting  footage of you riding in the DeLorean I  never had the chance to experience this  ride and unfortunately it closed a few  years ago back to future video games  have generally sucked but thankfully  telltale games released a  point-and-click adventure game that  takes place after part three and sees  Marty return to the 1920s it was  released in five episodes with each  episode taking about 90 minutes to  complete and in total all episodes  should run to a length of over seven  hours it popped up on the PC and Apple  Mac and later ported to the ps3 just in  time for the October 21st anniversary  date it's being ported over to the 360  xbox one and ps4 the video game was met  with very good reviews and the decision  to go with a point-and-click adventure  game was perfectly suited to the back to  future series in 2013 a cartoon arrived  called Rick and Morty a parody on Back  to the Future Rick is an eccentric  elderly alcoholic scientist who has  moved in with his horse surgeon daughter  best family he spent most of his time  taking his young grandson Morty on  dangerous outlandish adventures  throughout the cosmos  and alternative universes the show  gained critical acclaim and amassed a  huge following you have to watch it if  you haven't had a chance yet  it's bloody hilarious the second season  has just finished and it's been renewed  for a third Universal Studios has been  promoting the future day of October 21st  heavily all three films will be released  for a one day showing and they even put  out a joke trailer for jaws 19 which was  an inspired idea a new blu-ray boxset  was released with some new content and  Pepsi are even releasing their Pepsi  perfect bottles but only in limited  numbers I just want to be able to walk  into my local supermarket and pick one  up not have this limited edition  nonsense that will only be sold in  America or on their web site or whatever  most probably they will be sold out  within a day so I doubt I will ever get  one  as a kid part 2 was my favorite out of  the series the visuals and concept or  the future really drew me into it the  DeLorean for once is working properly  and they're jumping into the future in  the past it really opened up the playing  field to have fun with time-travel  producing sequels is always a tough  challenge for filmmakers and the  original concept of going to the 60s for  the third act would have been an  interesting choice and it would have  deviated from the first film to offer a  new section of the past but Zemeckis  wanted to go with the idea of revisiting  the first film from a different angle  the idea of giving audiences something  the same but being a bit different he  felt would be the best way to approach  the sequel sequels that deviate too far  in tone and visuals from the original  can lead to people being put off  I think Marty and Doc returning to 1955  and trying to avoid bumping into  themselves was a pretty smart move and  it can only be done in a time travel  movie but it's also seen as its weakness  I enjoyed the Future setting and the  bleak alternative 1985 but once it went  back to 1955 I always lost a bit of  interest despite it being a clever move  it was nice seeing the town from a  different angle but it was just  retreading familiar ground part two  feels independent and its own movie for  the first two-thirds but then it  rehashes the first movie so it dilutes  its own identity  the ending was often seen as a bit of a  letdown it's not that exciting you can't  have something that's over-the-top and  action-packed but it relies on part  three so much wits finale to be resolved  they knew they were going to make part  three so I would have pushed the idea of  the unknown not knowing if dot would be  okay and how was Marty going to save him  so in showing you the trailer for part  three it kind of does spoiled a third  act of the story there is no sense of  surprise or suspense for the next film  the ending for Part 2 was downbeat and  so a trailer was slapped on to reassure  people that it wasn't the end but if  they had balance to down be ending with  hint at doc and Marty's future then the  trailer wouldn't have been needed and  the audience would have been on the edge  of their seat wondering what's going to  happen in part three with part two going  in a darker direction very much like the  Empire Strikes Back that darker element  was the most intriguing element for me  the  themes of greed and abuse of time travel  is evidently conveyed on screen and  shows the worst of time travel and what  it can do it does become a tense and  thrilling part to its story to see doc  and Marty try and correct the mistakes  they made along their journey the messed  up alternative 85 where one man's greed  for power and wealth has destroyed the  town and crushed society I wanted to see  more of that there was a deleted scene  where Marty turns up at what I believe  is to school which was left in ruins  I wanted to see an expansion of what the  city had become but the main square  where Marty ends up is very dark and  full of motorbikes so it's difficult to  make out what is left of the town the  twisted and greedy Biff ends up looking  a bit like Donald Trump he's not as evil  as Trump but close after seeing Lorraine  in such a depressed state their  whereabouts of Marty's brother and  sister and Doc Brown was something I  wanted to know more about but it quickly  leaves this time period back to the 50s  so I don't think there's enough time for  the story to breathe and to build up any  kind of emotional connection to the  movie part 1 & 3 have dedicated the time  to give the audience an opportunity to  know everyone and get involved in this  story part 2 is high on caffeine it  can't sit still as a kid I loved that it  was so mental because we all had short  attention spans as children but as I got  older I found myself enjoying part 3  moreover part 2 2 & 3 don't come close  to the masterpiece that is the first one  but when discussing the sequels it's  interesting to discuss with friends or  other folk about which is better I  discuss my thoughts on part 3 in an  older retrospective but in short part 3  focused more on Doc Brown and I think  his caption needed to be expanded upon  and have his own identity I'm not really  a fan of westerns but it didn't destroy  any of my enjoyment of its story what  would have happened if Crispin Glover  had returned it's really hard to know  how it would have turned out I think it  would have had a stronger emotional arc  to it I think his character was very  important to the series and having his  cap to reduce to the background and  being killed off felt like a big loss to  me when Marty sees his father's grave  it's supposed to be on a big emotional  response but because he's not in the  film with any new material it's not as  effective as it should be back to Future  Part 2 does have its problems that make  it full short of being on par with the  first film but there is loads of great  stuff in the movie to enjoy it  humor is still strong and with its  eccentric plot it makes for a fun  experience the cast is still on top form  I don't think anyone really falters in  their performances Elisabeth Shue does  look a bit too old to be playing a  teenager whilst Michael J Fox always  looked a bit baby-faced and looked  younger for his years so he gets away  with playing Marty again Thomas Wilson  really steals the show all his  variations of Biff are a joy to watch  especially seeing him as an older man  stumbling around with his hunched back  and the best humour comes from his  frustration and anger throughout all the  time periods the back to future films  are the best time traveler based movies  nothing has really come close to  matching them in terms of the quality of  a writing and execution jumping from the  future to the past you could get mixed  up very quickly and may experience  incoherency with your storytelling but  the story is so tightly written they  managed to keep it simple and  straightforward Robert Zemeckis holds it  all together  it's probably his most complicated film  I'm sure many of us own the trilogy box  set you would be mad not to own it as  they are regarded as one of the best  series of films ever made  it's hard for sequels to maintain any  sense of quality usually the budgets get  smaller with each sequel but here the  call to you remains high throughout all  of them  Dean Candy's photography is just as  effective as the first film and  perfectly replicates the imagery of 1955  but also the bright colors and  landscapes of the future if this clean  polished look it's a shame we don't have  hoverboards yet and self-drying jackets  but I can only hope I will see these in  my lifetime I would be worried about  flying cars though you know so many  would be falling out of the sky far more  often than planes back to the future  part 2 probably wouldn't be in my list  of top 5 sequels  it just falls short in some areas for it  to be totally satisfying for me it's  tone an underwhelming ending just means  it fails to hit the mark however there  is great original stuff in there  it's bucket loads of fun and certainly  recommended viewing  I'll be it's like I was just here  yesterday we're here yesterday buddy you  were amazing isn't it all right  sunrise should be in about 22 minutes  you going to town tell your gift until  Ian sometime today  all this will show up to give young Biff  the Almanac above all you must not  either fear without event we must let  obit believe he succeeded so that Helene  1955 and bring her to law and back to  the future  right once whole bitch is gone grab the  Almanac any way that you can remember  all of our futures depend on this you  have to remind me an answer now two of  me here and there are two of you here  the other be down from 1955 the other me  whoops  the other you get back 1985 remember  lightning ball at the park tower yeah  that event doesn't have it until tonight  so you must be very careful not to run  into your other self Hey yeah even just  on guys what's that Oh  party is on those guys at all cost but  without being seen by your other self or  your parents same for look how do you  get up on stage I don't know but when he  gets down we're gonna nail him he'll he  changes 4) Look Who's Talking

Review: Good funny and perfect:)

5) Dead Poets Society

Review: Scare you, laugh you and finally teach you some good lessons:)

6) Lethal Weapon 2

Review: [Music]  just two years after the first Lethal  Weapon film we get the sequel lethal  weapon 2 now Shane Black who is one of  my favorite writers he roped the first  film he didn't write the screenplay for  this however he did have him but on the  story Geoffrey Baum wrote the script and  this guy is you know he's no outcast  when it comes to right and he's written  some pretty decent films he wrote the  dead zone which is one of my favorite  Stephen King adaptations and he also  wrote indiana jones and the last crusade  which is arguably one of the wealthy  best indiana jones fell so good  credentials really for the writing and I  think it shows because for me personally  bearing in mind like I say just how big  of a shame black I am I still think this  is better than the first film now I I  think a case can be made father for a  film being better but either way if he  still and said they preferred this more  I wouldn't argue with it what I think  this film does particularly well is  tying up certainly sounds from the first  one it namely Riggs's wife his wife died  in this accident car accident or so he  believed and here we learn obviously but  that wasn't the case and they need the  bad guy in this I think really adds a  bit more personal wait to rig his  character to the story on giving him  this motif is reason to really go after  him now I actually think the villains in  this all around the better than of the  ones in the first one I know I know a  lot of people really dig Gary Busey's  main villain in the first film I just  kind of saw I also him is a bit of a  thug real he never really impressed me  on that level are you still cracking  village you know so when we can have a  good fight with with Riggs here I feel  is more of a personal kind of thing  between rigs and this dude so that for  me keeps me a bit more in bed  did the action is really upped as well  in this is a lot more action in this  right from the get-go the opening scene  we have this big car chase that seems to  go on for quite a while and because we  don't need to get to know these  characters this time around they can  just get straight into the banter which  as I say it's pretty decent even though  shane black isn't writing the dialogue  and Geoffrey Baum does a really good job  of making these characters sound like  the characters from the first film which  is quite a hard thing to do when you  have such a distinctive voice writing  that original you know you can recognize  Shane Black dialogue anywhere in the  same way that you can recognize they  Aaron Sorkin's dialogue so yeah to be  able to mimic that in a way that doesn't  feel like it's mimicking but actually  feels fresh point scored I'd say we also  get the addition of Joe Pesci's Leo Getz  who I think is a great addition to this  cast of characters he really lends some  some some levity to the situation and it  helped by the fact he's being played by  Joe Pesci really is a bit of a chameleon  he can be absolutely terrifying other  years in Goodfellas or it can be really  comic and sympathetic as he is here and  he gets quite bullied I think actually  in this film Riggs and Murtaugh at times  the way they treat him I really do  sympathize with it and I kind of kind of  turn against Riggs and Murtaugh when  they're doing that or particularly Riggs  Murtaugh not so much is a bit more of a  seasoned professional shall we say isn't  he's less likely to have untick although  he does get involved yeah I do I  sympathize for his character during  those moments and by the end of the film  when he's gone to Anthony's come through  you really do feel like yeah he deserves  their friendship after everything he  goes through for them the weakest link I  would say is Patsy Kensit who let's face  it didn't go on to have a stellar film  career after this I I think they were  probably hoping she would but yeah she  didn't prove herself as the finest  actress  but she doesn't embarrass herself either  I just feel like a dozen other actresses  would have been much better suited in  this role I'm a bit of a thankless role  given what happens to her but I'd say to  you know she she does enough thankfully  this role is kind of as I say it's  pretty short there's not much screen  time devoted to it but it does give  Riggs his character a lot of impetus for  some of the things he needs to do later  on and so yeah it sets of that quite  nicely richard donner's direction again  as with first one is spot on proving  himself to be one of the best action  directors of the 80s and 70s obviously  with Superman just at the end of that  decade so yeah really underrated  director in my mind I love this film I  like the more personal element in it  with regards to the bad guys I like the  fact that the action is ramped up a lot  more I just I just love that we get to  have fun with these characters so I'm  going to give this a 10 out of 10 I have  to I just you know I gave the first 1i  10 out of 10 5 out of 5 i should say I'm  going back to my old school rating  system there but yeah five out of five  if that's what I give the first one I  think this film is probably marginally  better like say can I do case either way  so yeah I have to give this a 5 really  great action film so if you've seen this  film I'd like to know what you thought  about it so comment below and let me  know and until next time thanks for  watching  [Music]

7) Honey, I Shrunk the Kids

Review: I will say this and I wasn't gonna give  this movie credit until a little bit  later hmm  but this movie fucks these kids huh yeah  what's an endangered peril I don't know  the actor little kid but he's fucking  holding on for dear life like I don't  care  his dad's trying to kill me I'm going  with a baseball bat like that's what you  want  [Music]  [Music]  but this one this movie though when we  decided to pick it was actually pretty  easy to pick because it was like okay  although yeah you know this movie was  beloved by everyone growing up let me  mean you the same age every once again  the kids perfect movie class you know we  just never had the VHS for this and this  is the time where you would have a VHS  not a DVD Rises a VHS copy movie and it  wasn't that we hated Disney's we love  Disney it was just the fact that with  all the Disney movies that came out all  the VHS we did have of the animated  cartoons and all sorts of other Disney  movies this one fell through the cracks  and so it was like all right I mean I  think the kids missed it and might have  shown them on TV every so often but  Disney has always put out a ton of  content a ton of movies and so it got to  the point where I wasn't a kid anymore  and I was like well I don't want to  watch Honey I Shrunk the Kids and I'm  not a kids and I'm not a honey so I  don't I don't want to know about any of  this movie I don't want to talk about it  I want to think about it and so with  ant-man the wasp coming out I'm like  okay these kids you know nowadays they  have all the CGI in the world they write  all the computer graphics green screen  they ever possibly you can't get much  better than we have it easy now they got  it easy these kids that got the ants and  the men and they're little and they're  on the toy trucks and the kids have it  so easy nowadays it's not gonna get much  better looking you don't look slightly  better and better and better as we go  along as the resolutions gets bigger and  bigger and bigger but otherwise we're  pretty much there it's just a matter of  man-hours and money that you put into  something so make it look good and so  what do you do when you're in 1989 in a  pre CGI world you know like I want to  make a tiny world I want to make these  this movie where kids are being shrunk  to a really really small level Lord of  an inch quarter of an inch which is like  these kind of change size every so often  small but easy  but otherwise you know you know first  while we do this we have to set the fact  that this is the late 80s and early 90s  and dad has to be a workaholic who is  wacky has his own workspace and he still  you know he has these ideas where it's  like okay I'm gonna make these  inventions yeah I'm gonna be a little  bit of a little eccentric I'm a little  yeah crackpot scientist whose text  messaging too  kids in the morning about how he wants  to go to breakfast and but when it comes  to this dad Rick Moranis yeah this movie  does what a lot of nineties movies do  and what Martin Thomas loves movies to  do and that is make dad look bad for  wine to stay home and work and feed the  family like Rick Moranis is trying to  make this invention work before he goes  to his big meeting right and they make  him a villain because his kid who wants  to show him a stupid little rinky-dink  toy  look finish mine looks just like yours  you know dad I was calculating future  all the molecules listen baby I gotta  get this thing working before I leave  don't you go help your sister  [Music]  thank you dead like to me that was  something I never understood as a kid  and if I would have watched it as a kid  uh-huh as I watch it now I understand  parents have to work sure like that mom  work moms out there working selling  houses she's making money and she's  making money dad ain't making any money  but dad is trying to make this pitch to  be like yeah I want to be in the papers  I'm trying to make this thing shrink you  know and I get that he works from home  but like when I was growing up I had my  own siblings to worry about like what he  says go help your sister I was already  doing that we had our own little world  because we knew our parents had to take  care of the business stuff like that but  then we get select the shrinking parts  of the movie the part where it's like  yeah we're finally getting it honey we  should yeah it's the movies what we want  to talk about these kids in love and  wanting to have sex and nîmes these kids  playing baseball we don't want to deal  with any of that stuff more and to be  honest I don't even know how the whole  shrinky thing worked the first time or  how the accident even happened because  this movie is just so haphazard  sometimes you just don't know what's  going on a lot of the camera works a  little weird and yeah I'm very good to  write so follow a lot of things yeah but  apparently a ball stops a laser and we  get our tiny people in this tiny world  and some part of this scenes when they  reveal the tiny people yeah some parts  are actually really anxiety and here it  comes  that's boy bread bar grand  [Music]  okay first bone to pick root shit  how are you in the fucking backyard  swing towards the house you know what he  was doing not expected to hit a fucking  window  nah he's drunk I won't be beaten by a  belt if I was playing baseball let alone  in the front yard or backyard and  fucking towards the house like it  happened one time already because we  work close to the house but we were in  the front of our own house and it was  our own house so he hit I didn't do it  nobody has to know nobody stopped but  you  where are we  dead maybe would be dead suffocate dead  done if the broom just like swept  against and they would be just ground it  into the ground and their skin and flesh  would just come off and be a horror film  I didn't even think of it like oh yeah  yeah cuz like my thing was like okay I  thought about the science of this movie  a little bit too much of during the  movie itself because you know and I'm  not holding it against the movie in any  way but like no excuse me but like you  know you you you close off all the the  hair you pour them into a trash bag you  know yeah you know with tons of debris  with a huge fall those kids I'm sorry  closed off all the air I wrote down hair  all the air from the bag yeah you hit  them with the bristles you drop them  from a giant dust pan with a bunch of  other debris in the inside and stuff  like that those kids should be dead now  I don't know what kill them how air  works now that they're tiny but we'll  get saw like kind of those kind of  questions in the moment because now do  they have an abundance of air now are  they short on air because there's tiny  lungs they get do they need more air to  breathe or less no they would need less  there and there'd be enough air in that  garbage bag lesson for quite a bit at  the same time or the it's not it's not  perfectly tied tight either what are the  oxygen levels enough where the atoms are  able to be even inhaled by the way yes  oh you start to get that way the movie  Falls are big the sets are all this is  amazing that's what I will say this is  the first time we see like a set like  this and that's where the magic the  movie is well that's the thing I'll show  it to you right now the part that got me  because I was like I'll talk about this  movie making me anxious at least in some  parts of it yeah wouldn't there at his  feet and they can't really like get to  them and they're screaming their heads  off  that's me I might come with the right  like the right there and like does a  part where like these people are fucked  because he can't even hear him they're  so small and it's like it's right there  and I'm like at the same time I'm  thinking you know how many bugs have  crawled by my feet you know at any given  time how many you know gnats or  something have been around my head that  I've never noticed you know like how  many spiders are in your hair right now  I don't could be a lot how many spiders  in your hair right now  we got a widow's peak is like a Widow's  funny joke saying don't do it  but seeing some of the practical effects  that go of this movie like having to  make you know giant huge floorboards or  giant screws and nails great giant dust  pans or the dust bunnies and stuff you  know there are some awesome things that  they do like with those situations like  oh this is like a big giant broom that  they're actually practically making for  them to run away from you know it's  taking the mundane and making it  extraordinary mm-hmm and just really  unique and just like wow it's like yeah  stuff that we see every day we're just  bored by but seen oh it's really big now  there's something fun about that right  and the thing about it that makes me  kind of upset is that with my adult  brain working again oh those were all  sets I can tell that that's not real so  wood floor you know and it's an unfair  criticism of the movie but when I  watched these things I don't I can't  watch them in a vacuum so I'm like I'm  watching Rick Moranis you know brooming  and then like oh now there's a giant big  problem with brushes that are gonna  carry the kids away whatever have you  and so I'm seeing this stuff and I'm  like man you know what the set designer  back then had to go all out for this you  know and then I remember a scene like  from the first ant-man I watching that  was that soon thirteen thousand fifteen  twelve fifteen so like that when you  watch the first ant-man scene  let me turn that down a little more up  and you know and he's throwing Thomas  the Tank Engine around yeah and you're  getting the same type of stuff but with  the advent of modern modern technology  it looks super real now it's not like a  maker day make-or-break deal with in  this movie but seeing how glaringly fake  everything else in this movie makes me  kind of go like oh that's cute you know  cuz I'm watching at man I'm like  everything is the exact same effect  everything's exact same amount of tiny  and you're able to see all these action  the special effects and stuff like that  and and then you're looking at Honey I  Shrunk the Kids and it's like oh they're  like running around on like little tiny  cameras little sound sets whatever have  you and it doesn't give you the cap of  reaction you want from a movie like that  where it's even though it's whimsical  and fun it's like oh man this is real  plastic in fake it's almost like Toy  Story in this in a sense where it's like  yeah everything is fake yeah they had to  work with what they had at that time I  mean they didn't have those types of  facts even at this point we're still  seeing some stop-motion effects until  that dress barks oh yeah movies dated  but it's it's what they're doing all  those scenes I think works they're  reactions how when they see one some of  the bigger characters like wince you  know once we Rick Moranis and his wife  or whatever you see them above their  kids and stuff like that it's fun again  it's not a movie that's it's about the  the set pieces but you can't take it too  seriously right this isn't a film for  kids right so making it too realistic I  think would have been too frightening  for kids okay but yeah I mean because  I'm like I said I'm not holding it  against it but yes my old my adult brain  is an overdrive saying like oh yeah  that's a nice little that's a nice set  design this is a nice composition I'm  appreciating for what it's doing and I  am appreciating the fact that these  things are a mixture of stop-motion all  those things but my brain can't shut off  the back oh yeah it's totally real and I  just wish I I missed that childhood  wonder where I ever thought that was  real or was or that was something that  was cool you know and so I found myself  making little comparisons like that's  other movies as well because when the  kids make it to the ground level for the  first time and they're attacked by an  insect I thought of something  immediately after that  [Music]  one inch tall and sixty four feet from  the house the equivalent of 3.2 miles  butterfly and a wingspan of 42 and like  that little part works in Gary if you  look at the scale of that like the  mushrooms and the size of that you know  and the kids gives you a scale of  everything like three miles worth of  walking which hate that far maybe you  could do three miles to the hours like  and so like you could do they even like  two hours right there right and you know  to the back porch and then the thing  that got me was forty five foot  equivalent wingspan for the butterfly oh  that's really awesome that's really neat  that that kid that was there to be a  nerd to pull that number out of his ass  they explained just enough like stuff  like that was little scientific things  right like the technology stuff like oh  that's kind of cool right but when the  but what happened then was like I was  looking at kind of the where they were  hiding I was in at the butterfly them  see if I can pull the butterfly like  right there yeah you see Mothra right  there and then you see that there under  AB little mushroom whatever have you and  I thought of another movie that did the  same thing that came out 10 years later  a movie that I was a little more  familiar with when they came out and  we've been talking about this the last  couple weeks for a while and it gave me  that same sense of scale like that with  other plants and other wildlife toy  store  like they're like there it is like AB I  saw underneath the mushroom it was like  I've been to California Adventure and  they have a bug's life world and so they  have giant bugs and giant and giant  plants and stuff like that so you're  underneath like a giant little prop yeah  mushroom whatever have you but it's like  oh now I feel like the size of a net you  kind of get that a little bit of honey i  shrunk the kids seriously and I haven't  seen a movie that movie in a while but  like half of it if I remember is in  grass like this right  we're like the cloves are a little bit  tall and the scale is so small you can  actually see the individual earth grains  of sand underneath it so I'm looking at  this and I'm like alright the ground  stuff is just like people in a bug's  life and so I'm like alright that little  bit of wonder is already worn down  because I saw and even the movie ants  which I've never seen it's like yeah we  have this situation where it's like oh  we know what the scale is being small  we've had movies where you've been small  whether it be you know anthropomorphic  ants or whatever have you or now this  movie it's like ok for me having seen  those other things that wonder is rubbed  off too so not sure now the wonder of  the them being small in terms of the  real world and like like a just like a  regular room and then now being small in  the realm of like outside in the  backyard I'm like man I'm missing all  these pieces because I've seen them  elsewhere makes you sad  you've seen them done better I mean you  can even say a Toy Story they do that  perspective where things are much large  and you seen from that that toys Heights  oh no I mean yeah I mean in this case  these movies are doing a bear cuz the  technology is just better right and and  and technology's a little better and  it's just the fact that I was oh a  little bit too old or too young I'm  sorry for like a movie like this to be  like to get the full kind of full  exposure of it you know once I missed it  I missed it because okay bugs like it  came in 1998 yeah shows less than 10  years so if I had that 10 year window  and then one year was removed because I  wasn't even born yet  mhm I missed the bus by a very small  margin and that's kind of the  unfortunate thing about me in this mean  you could have been a part of the Honey  I Shrunk kid saga with me I could I gave  no fucks about that and then the peril  kicked in though Oh at this movie now  that's where you're making your money  off of this movie if you're gonna watch  it at a later time because like I said  the sense of scale stuff some of it's  fun some of it's neat  gets a little bit of those in a minute  but you know you get the butterflies or  your friend kind of moments okay we're  afraid for nothing it's fiery but you  know what then they're trying to climb  flowers trying to see where the house is  gonna get their grounding for everything  and then a fucking swarm of bees out of  nowhere comes attacking you you're up  shit creek with the bees  [Applause]  huh between the giant flower the pollen  the stop-motion and be puppet and then  the green-screen kind of simulating the  flying thing that sequence is actually  pretty excited it still holds up it  holds up and it's fun and it's even  funnier because that kid like I will say  this and I wasn't gonna give this movie  credit until a little bit later mmm but  this movie fucks these kids peril yeah  I'll talk about my complaining about  that a little bit later but like they  put the kids in peril like you these  kids this kid is like imma show you that  that scene where he's hanging off the  side like yeah let me see where is it  let me see cuz this kid like I don't  know the actor little kid but he's  fuckin holding on for dear life like for  his life dad's trying to kill him - this  is no one with a baseball bat like  that's what you want and their whole  sequence like you said even if it  doesn't look real if it's not what the  most best thing ever out of self you're  still in the moment because they sold it  to you yeah and you're buying because  it's like oh shit the beat you know half  the time that like a little like mr.  Bhatt mr. bill was SNL the the puppet  little claymation puppet no I'm talking  about in SNL that little claymation guy  mr. bill I think is mr. bill yeah like  they look like little real-life mr.  Bill's in the show and you kind of go  with it you want to do that you know and  also the same time near the can there  they should have been dead again yeah  because they get flung off the beat it's  a God knows where and with plot armor  and plot device being the way they are  they're super close anyway yeah to the  people at the end of the scene who  spoiler alert but like you know what  they should be dead at this point and  this is the point where's like a peril  is one thing but just being dead is  another and being big for situations  where they would die is another I  figured out why she remember an ant man  they see even saying this movie where  even though they shut down this size or  whatever they're still dense they still  have the same density right right and so  he would still fall and hit the ground  they should be okay well it's here's the  thing  that exact point may be enough in the  movie I'll write it down oh can they  bring into the movie and actually the  description is all all reading so if  you're just removing the space between  the atoms so the atoms say the same size  so you're shrinking things by removing  the space almost infinitely to make  things shrink okay so you're condensing  the density of the thing your shrinky  that's it so if this kid is you know 50  pounds or whatever and they're the size  of less than a quarter there's still 50  pounds okay so let's say that right so  if they're like that big in 50 pounds  what they like just be slamming through  everything because if like you know if  they just jump would it be like a little  tiny baby thing jumping 50 pounds into  this MicroStation going through it and  breaking everything breaking the table  all the way into the ground right right  or you know like if the Bee is attacking  like do they hold on and do the weight  of them holding the B rip off the B's  arm because a 50 pound kid a little rip  off of B's arm and then if you go okay  if you want to assume that they get tiny  and then they lose the density as well  yeah are they like ants or you can drop  an ant like you can throw an ant across  his mind then they fall down it's fine  is that kind of what we're going with  I'm confused like are they able to walk  on water with like the tension whatever  that would be questions that I have you  know the kids are fine like the little  one he's precocious into fun he's  adorable  there's the rowdy Trump supporter he's  useful then you have rest little emo boy  he's fine at first surprisingly and then  Amy is just girl like she doesn't serve  any other purpose other than be rescued  and to be kind of like contradictory to  the boys like Oh boys you guys don't  know any tension between the the littles  Trump supporters right as you called um  no I mean the thing that is like no the  kids stand out I think that is the  biggest problem with the film and that's  just yeah right he's just not there for  any it's not there for the sets and the  spectacle and all that but there's a  short round like you've got a message it  now what if these kids were short round  that would be awesome  down to sea level is the Goonies exactly  all these kids yeah and the Goonies that  was a whole nother situation of peril  and things yep that's it's another it's  another level that that movie takes it  to it's like okay that's why I see that  movie a little bit more on a higher  level than this one yeah yeah because  kids are getting fucked up in this one  but it's like they're flying through  things and you like that and  particularly though  in this next thing you know luckily  they're just fine enough as characters  for us to kind of carry at least a  little bit about her enough um but what  happens next is is one of those things  that you really don't think about when  you go out to be tiny and I just  remembered the first ant-man did this in  the bathtub scene okay and in this movie  you know they brought it to your  attention you're like you know what  this is something I've really never  considered and that's the fact that when  the sprinkler system turns on you  realize how dangerous water is you know  goddamn nightmare right yeah thing is  too much water is dangerous and the  thing is that at this point where the  sprinkler goes off it gets really really  treacherous to the point where like  someone almost dies  [Music]  [Music]  [Music]  dad she's fucking dead they all float  down here that's what that's what I  think my spooky right there I'm looking  at her that's a ghost water she's dead  facedown on blood I don't know how she  just went down that quickly she just got  a fell into it she's dense  she's that's why maybe this but why is  her face in the earth she doesn't need  that but anyway they got a save they  gotta save the girl yeah  [Music]  now I don't know what that water effect  they were using was yeah that shit look  cool man yeah no I mean for that the  droplets the droplets yeah like it must  have been like I'm trying to find like a  specific part where I can show it  explicitly like it I know I'll slow down  Sammy's Oz Sam you see shit frame by  frame you have the digital right there  yeah glassy water effect and then you  have the practical land  yeah comes like that right there like  that's gotta be since it's so thick has  to be some sort of like slime thing that  made it have that kind of dripping  effect and then the mud to itself when  you watch the mud is like mud is mud to  me like mud is dirt and water it doesn't  gross me out I'm an adult I have my  stuff in mud it's like ah just  unfortunate yeah but like here the mud  is gross and gusting viscous it's like  mucus it looks like yeah it looks like a  big loogie they just you know swimming  around in right it's like mucus slime  with like backwash yes yes rounding in  it I'm like man like that's how you get  that wonder childhood wonder again back  because like kids think muddy the ill  mud grows you know we mud we deal with  whatever but like little kids think it's  like grody and so then when the kids  drowning in it it's like well shit man  that's fucking awful you know and that  said you know that moment was super  scary in this being a kids movie they  were like you know what yeah one of the  main characters almost drowned in a  puddle of mud but let's get them back  with something magically whimsical like  I don't know no but a giant cookie I've  died and gone to heaven  house I saw it first  [Music]  now here's the funny thing about about  this whole situation about a movie I had  no clue there's a giant pet anton's  movie I had no clue so like oh it's  merely coincidence I was like Honey I  Shrunk the Kids ant-man and then this is  like an ant pad I'm like fuck yeah I did  moslim I picked that correctly and I was  like alright fuck yeah  good choice Sam for ants because I do so  in the back exactly but then too once  again you know I'll be scrolled back a  little bit more to see a little bit more  of it but the stop-motion and the  practical effects in the scene are still  really really good that's a good puppet  it's like it's a good puppet you know as  you see like the blue screen where the  kids in for the foreground coming over  them and I'm like you know what I'm  watching this and I'm like yeah I can  see some of the seams in this but  otherwise when the kids are getting  messed up they're getting messed up by a  real ant by all intents and purposes and  that ant would have like bitten them in  half had there been a real ant you know  like they're super shit a hive mind  they'll just go after whatever isn't  killing right and this was apparently  just pimp slapping the shit out of all  of them right and then the other  question I have number three you know  why oatmeal oatmeal pie oatmeal cream  pie cookies man okay no shits are grow I  love me oatmeal raisin cookie so do I is  gross like the actual Little Debbie  cakes that yes you know like look those  are the oatmeal cream pies the little  ones that your grandma has for some  reason because she likes them but like  you have all like you have nutty bars  fancy cakes Swiss rolls super cakes you  have with the cup just regular old  cupcakes the honey buns all of them why  oatmeal cream pie cookies I think those  bub the least gross of everything that  you just said really I think nutty bars  are fucking delicious I don't think you  like peanut butter waivers in chocolate  you know you know it's it's fine but I  mean I like I like I like oatmeal  cookies it's like a little stale it sure  is stale what's wrong with her face like  oh let me zoom in on her face no jikan  she's fucking drama looking look I'm  assuming  I'm zooming more no like 90 facies you  know did you hear kitchen fucking  weird-looking man like the thing was is  that like I was looking for a high-res  image of her face okay and then this  came up and I was cracking up because  it's large Debbie and she keeps eating  those Oreo cookies remember that's what  you're gonna look like if you're in saw  small size times and buying job you're  looking large Debbie okay I don't know  whatever question weird they ask like  you could see the Photoshop more for yes  it's weird but but you know what Chris I  think it's that time again commas time  thank you for watching last week's  episode which was and thank you for  watching this week's episode which is  Honey I Shrunk the Kids and thank you  for leaving the comment down below thank  you for hitting like button hit it again  hitting a third time that's a triple  like thank you for doing it I know  you've already done it because you know  you've been here you should know they  should know these they need to know  these things also be sure to go to DT  merch calm it's right there DT merch  calm hand it's right there go and it's  gone and where did Chicago Chicago was  great too bad you missed it sucks to be  you first up o samozang Eden  Sammy's now on a mission from God  literally yes and that was the explosion  that gave us to why the Chicago audio  didn't work I was doing religious person  there and then as soon as I stopped  talking the audio just cut so maybe next  time you need the religious person in  Chicago to just host the show I think I  think I just do all of the Chicago wanna  hear any of Corey or Martin's  blaspheming and can they represent God  their terror CH I don't think so oh my  I'm steaming there you know what I was  there just being a good little Christian  Catholic boy mm-hmm Catholic you two  you're good yeah it was and you know  what here's a little bit of information  from Aaron Morris about the Blues  Brothers Blues Brothers came out the  same summer his airplane and Empire  Strikes Back the shining and Caddyshack  good year bad it is a phenomenal year  where was that 78  1880 and I say T I'm sorry yeah 1980  that is a that is a slugs one of the  best years ever no wonder people think  think it gets lost the sands of time  that's a lot of competition to get  through right there The Shining  Caddyshack Empire and airplane every  success though to airplane I need to  watch I've seen chunks of airplane  there's people love it there's there's  really good chunks of airplane I mean as  a coherent film like the dismissed no  kids about the main story it's all the  the little skits they do in the exact  that's what works about so I need it's  something I do need watch Leslie  Nielsen's brilliant the film Leslie  Nielsen is always brilliant yes yeah  Merc with the mouth what a one Matt  guitar Murphy died recently I'm a little  surprised that it wasn't mentioned in  the video maybe Sammy was too busy  thinking he was Carl Weathers I'm sorry  yeah I think he said June 15th like last  month yeah he just recently passed so  recipes Carl Weathers I mean rest in  peace Matt guitar Murphy knob people got  mad at me for not knowing Aretha  Franklin people got mad at me for not  knowing all those you know I knew Ray  Charles I know yeah yeah it was but but  you know what recipes Matt guitar Murphy  you are not Carl Weathers even though  you were yoked to like him so there you  go it's a compliment if anybody could  ever compliment anybody no anyway  question time straight edge ECW wow that  is a middle school a CCW the best  musical ever committed to film fucking  fight me I mean I might agree so yeah I  would say so what account in the sense  of musicals is in like chicag the other  movie Chicago Little Shop of Horrors  that type of musical is account as such  yeah I mean it's not all original music  for the most part I mean they write  woodenness musicals have to be defined  by original music cuz this is a musical  style movie yeah but a music goal would  have original music you would think is  that the definition I don't know if it's  not a definition and I'd still say it's  probably the best one because with music  I guess because it's not almost where  I'm looking for obnoxious hit they're  just so overdramatic  that's an exception like I'm talking  about like family opera fucking Chicago  yeah  Moulin Rouge like shit like that like  the acting so so big and they it's like  that doesn't feel you don't like the  showmanship I come know and Mamma Mia  shit like that you don't like this you  know I don't produ overseen the  producers by okay okay okay no what you  think in the comments does blues sound  or rather sound this is hella classical  though does Blues Brothers count as a  like a legit musical let us know down  below in the comment section I think  comedy musicals are better than regular  music let me say so there you go but  this but does a million original music a  musical movie no original music does it  count as musical let us know in the  comments down below  we don't know let us know so next up we  have evil motif watch this a few months  ago with my 12 year old daughter and she  understood the humor in this film  perfectly and she's always been speaking  English for three years I think that  Carrie Fisher shooting a rocket launcher  anybody is a universal link there's a  lot of things the music is good enough  to where you can just not understand the  words and just dance with the music at  shield sounds good  yeah and visually they're not really  doing much they're very blank slated  faces so it's a matter of the physical  things that are doing and dancing  singing you know playing instruments and  stuff that's where you get the most of  the pay dirt from that movie so I think  that movie is absolutely great for  little kids even though they say all  sorts of bad language and maybe it's cuz  she's only speaking English three years  she doesn't learn those learn yeah or  maybe she learns all of them starts  calling people fuckers and stuff so  anyway but on YouTube get rich there you  go little kids cursing is what we want  on our children's network at this point  that's it for YouTube comments time  that's it for YouTube comments time  that's it for YouTube that's it's time  so go and leave your comments down below  go ahead and light bugging him to get it  there does triple like no it no the trip  through it the triple like go to all the  things I told you to do gets to a  billion subscribers and then now we say  goodbye to you YouTube take it by the  YouTube fight hi YouTube it's gone  everybody  [Music]  you.

8) Ghostbusters II

¡A cocinar! Columbia Pictures estaba al tanto de la competencia, especialmente varias secuelas,  como ‘Back to the Future, part II’, ‘Karate Kid III’, ‘Lethal Weapon II’, ‘Star Trek V’ y ‘The Last Crusade’. Bobby Brown, quien iniciaba su carrera, contribuyó con 2 melodías –‘On Our Onw’ y ‘We´re Back’.  ‘On Our Own’ se escucha varias veces durante la cinta  y el video incluye a Donald Trump, The Ramones, Rick Moranis y el legendario Christopher Reeve.  La canción llegó a ocupar el segundo lugar pero fue derrotada por el “batdance” de Prince para ‘Batman’.  Otros artistas, tales como Onigo y Elton John también contribuyeron.  Me gusta mucho ‘On Our Own’ y siempre me hace recordar a 'Ghostbusters 2' cuando la escucho. Hola, Dana. Imaginé que vendrías.  - ¡Aléjate, Janosz! - No creo que tengas otra opción.  Míralo. No es el "Blue Boy" de Gainsborough.  - ¡Ã‰l es Vigo! - No me importa, no te llevarás a mi bebé--  ¡Oscar!  ¡Bastardo! Gracias.

9) The Little Mermaid

Review: hey everyone caught once again and walk  it back to the movie review and Andrew  back to another anniversary review and  since i reviewed i'm the 20th  anniversary of tarzan no I do a Disney  masterpiece I call it still now to  review another classic Disney  masterpiece from from Disney and a 20th  anniversary the time but from a 30th  anniversary from 1989 and everybody  knows a story about this and it's even  giving a live at a live-action  adaptation remake but more on that later  but everyone knows how this one's always  been a classic as well when most  especially one was classic music Disney  musicals too as well that is of the  Loula mermaid another one I always  wanted to review as well I also know  that classic film but I absolutely loved  growing up as well  sadly though my brother he's never seen  this film all the way through I don't  know why I know why he's never watched  this um all the way through I tell him a  lot of times watch the whole way through  he says no I don't get I had some of the  guys don't get him but the Little  Mermaid everyone knows what the story of  the Little Mermaid and how it's always  been the classic Disney film ever since  it came out it became the first animated  film to gross over 100 million becoming  the first animated blockbuster so that's  something definitely something and one  more guy said but the Little Mermaid  it's a another Disney masterpiece and  from the animation from 1989 is well  made still to this day the characters  are always classic characters the visor  the voice cast as well the songs  especially the main thing well the main  song doo doo doo doo  doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo  doo-doo-doo-doo-doo ah let's see  voice / Sebastien voiced by family  rights  phenomenal job under the sea but yeah  but let's say only goes for we all  noticed but but very quick the critical  exception got critically-acclaimed is  1/9 93 percent Rotten Tomatoes at high  7.6 90 DB worldwide gross of label was  like over over 230 some million around  there but it was the first day I'm a  film to gross over huh past 100 millions  and became the first animated  blockbuster so but and the pacing is  very is very fast it's only 83 minutes  deadly fast pace the story is of the  underwater Kingdom of land under water  kingdom of Atlantica  King Triton voiced by Kenneth Mars who  well well known for two roles avoids  grandfather in the land for time series  all the other sequels including the  television series so Kenneth Mars voice  littlefoot's grandfather and all sleep  plays inspector Kemp from Mel Brooks's  Young Frankenstein yeah but Kenneth Mars  he voices King Triton and I say he's  also another actor is now passed on may  rest in peace  and he is the ruler of he's the ruler of  Atlantica and his young daughter 16 year  old Ariel she's fascinated about the  human world she's been collecting stuff  from the human world like like oh she  picks with this fork and she has no what  if what a fork is what is this maybe  it's a hair coma or something and with  her foot with her friend  flounder  and why would they get this one the  one ship and they get attacked by the  shark which you later fight in the the  first Kingdom Hearts game the shark and  the Sebastian really the King supervisor  keeping I always keeping a constant eye  on her because you know tells her no no  don't interfere with the human world and  all that stuff one of the next to  another where she where she goes to the  surface she finds to see the boat and  put people on the boat that should  celebrate Prince Eric his birthday  Prince Eric and the voice cast like Jodi  Benson who voices Ariel for whose voice  arrow for a lot of years she doesn't  really want still does a wonderful job  as Ariel crystal Daniel Barnes is Prince  Eric likes to Samuel Samuel E Wright to  Sebastian decent myrna's flounder  Kenneth Mars as King Triton buddy  Hackett's as scuttle the sea goal to top  tells herself about the human world  scuttle bunny Hackett's into the other  actors enough of our comedic actor my  most improved from it's a mad mad mad  world well he's partnered with Mickey  Rooney I mean which he did he does a  good job as well and particle another  eric falls in the ocean almost drowning  ariel saves him and which ergo prince  eric remember is that the the wonderful  voice he hears but  ariel swims away before the boy being  seen and eric wants to find though the  girl has that wonderful beautiful voice  King Triton ultimately finds out about  this goes to her secret place where she  collects all the stuff from the human  world and destroyed everything she gets  upset and ultimately were the two eels  flows him and jetsam who see the eyes  through Ursula the sea witch voiced by a  packed Carol yeah yeah Pat Carroll  voices  Ursula yet also still same boy voices in  Kingdom Hearts games as well she does  then also does a really good job as  Ursula so floats when jetsam  I take Ariel to see her through her  together song you know you poor  beautiful little thing and where she  tells she tells that she can make a deal  where to make you human you know make  grow two legs make human and make the  Prince fall in love with you and only to  me it's end the contract and part of the  deal is he had to let me your voice and  try to even get him to kiss you you  loopy human people be human permanent as  a human before the by the third day as  the Sun Goes Down so against with  Sebastian says she signs the contract  gives up her voice which works like keys  in this little show and she gets pair of  legs and since she's 2 min she has to  hurry so service cuz she can't breathe  and ultimately you know she likes like  happy she has like she has feet she's  learning how to walk and Prince Eric  finds her like are you the girl who  saved me or as a voice but she can't  speak so our Eric thinks that's not her  but Ariel she's excited to be with him  like it takes him to his castle and like  she's like no learn how like the dinner  table she sees that fork that she's  found she's like using as a comb but  that's not the right way to do it or her  appreciate blows he takes his pipe and  blow smoke in the butt in the butler's  face that was funny  and what's the bastion the developer is  a word she gets in the fight with the  chef Louie  was to cook a mini that was a cook em  which Louie and the sequel's Wells like  you but that's not fun this is fun see  where do you just lose to chasing them  wants to cook him so and then with  Ursula  we will keep Triton you know he's  worried about his daughter and Ursula  watch wha watching carefully and by the  time it comes to the second day like it  was nighttime they're on a boat together  like you know try to get to get him to  fall in love it I like kiss him and  Sebastian gets like the its other  critical critters to hit the beats and  rhythms start singing and the plan  ultimately to uh come close to work in  if it wasn't for float some and jetsam  to interfere or so Ursula were that she  was getting close so she comes with a  plan she disguised himself as a woman as  a human woman using Ariel's voice to  lure Erik and hypnotize him to make a  forget about Ariel and marry marry her  but Eric is her Ariel gets like hurt but  then scuttle cuz they're gonna get  buried on the boat and scuttle sees when  the when Ursula puts the mirror and sees  her real surf real form scuttles notices  that's the sea which she hurts Beckett  tells Sebastian and they get all like  all like the animal all day like the  dolphins are the birds whatever to are  seals whatever other sea creatures to  interfere with a wedding what why does  look what I thought that was why where  justice go goes up and screams and  Ursula's face it's like and then it  snaps Erik snaps out of the hypnotism  and say the Ariel is the girl like she  was searching for but the spell but to  lay the spell wore off she gets her fin  back Herschel I guess the real  arm drags her down and keep trying is  there tries to save her but uh but she  can contract so Nora do that you must  take her place are you waiting to do  that for your daughter so he does the  sacrifice and he puts his name in the  contract I said it makes him become like  this slow thing which which he at which  Ursula stunts to all other people who  signed contracts in the past this little  thing are what this the whole thing is  called though but but Ursula she gets  the truck she gets the his um his  Trident you say she and then she becomes  like the new ruler of the oceans and  usually tries to eliminate Ariel Eric in  a fewer interferes like throws a harpoon  at her and she inadvertently destroys  floats min Jetson by accident and then  she grows to giant like the like in the  Olson the Kingdom Hearts scheme she  grows to join net gigantic size start  some swirling the waters and brings up  broken up broken sunken ships Eric gets  on one of them he ultimately which like  um like but I mentioned I'm Clayton's  death and Tarzan was very dark as well  because you know how it showed the  Scylla shadow of him being hanged but  this is also very dark moments was  especially with the how the animation  how the aunt the animate the animation  of the film is how it's well and made  you say but it's very but um like Oh  Clayton you'll see when his neck gets  snapped though you don't see his  physical neck snap you almost physically  see his neck I sent because the vine  though but here you literally see Eric's  tear the Brooklyn ship from a book of  peace the pointy end of the ship I  forget the name was though but you see  actually drive it into physically drive  it into Ursula actually piercing into  her body so it's like that death is much  more darker than will clean stay at this  dark that's me is one of the darkest  deaths in Disney films but this one is  much more  much more darker because you just  actually see it him physically drive it  into Ursula really really killing her  for good you need to see like they the  that fast saw pointing go right through  her back so yeah he that that was a very  serious death because they just learned  he just literally just went right  through her like ah  and then she's she's dead she got  skewered and the spells worn off King  trying back to his back to how it was  and so seeing how Eric means to Ariel  now he used his powers to make Ariel a  human and they both get married and they  both run off the sunset on the boat so  it's much it's much too early because  what had what had what hasn't said re  thoughts The Little Mermaid we all know  the story is we all how it turns out so  it's me I need in I need to go like  thirty minutes in this whole story  because we all know how it is we all  know the story of it the villain the how  the way it is stories told now again the  tesak had no ace mention for this now  like all the other because there because  now disease one want to make every  single live-action live-action remake of  Disney films like we say I gave my  thoughts on the trailer for a Moulin I'm  not sure I'm like this especially what  people are a saint pitifully people are  freaking out you know saying Oh where's  Mu Shu  there's no Mu Shu in here when I said  about that but yeah I'm not sure I'm  Mulan though but now they're making it  Anna  well it was announced in 2016 that  they're gonna make a live-action of The  Little Mermaid and by the casting who  was gonna play in a director Rob  Marshall who directed musical films as  well like he we'd Freck he directed um  he drew Bruce Lee did he directed Mary  Poppins returns he directed other stuff  like um I think he directed well he  drove all I know you drink the fourth  parts that Caribbean film on a stranger  ties though but that's not musical  but where's Rob Rob Rob Marshall yeah he  directed the I directed Mary Poppins  returns parts to Caribbean Stranger  Tides the film 9 we damn do Lewis he  directed Chicago that's what I also  remember Marshall Chicago but he also  directed into the woods that which I  hated yes that's a Disney musical I  absolutely hate it I did not like into  the woods with a various temptations  with the various tales like with Jack  and the Beanstalk the Cinderella of The  Little Red Riding Hood with giant Devlin  like a pedophile like a pedophile istic  big bad wolf and then just with the  songs were absolutely terrible in it  into the woods so yeah I handed into the  woods  that's one musical I did not like and  I'm sorry I'm not the biggest fan I'm  not the biggest fans of musicals in the  first place though but there's been a  few I like I like Little Shop of Horrors  but I'm not big musical guy but Rob Marx  at least directing it and for the  casting I was as I wished I was thinking  hoop we cast us as Ariel well one point  you know there was talks that um for war  I remember a while back though that cool  um Chloe grace Moretz she was the talk  to playing Ariel but declined to me I  think used to me I think she would be a  great a perfect cast member even my  brother would grease that Chloe grace  Moretz would play good Ariel I wish I  wish that was a case though because she  looked she dyed her hair red like she  would look like Ariel to be honest me me  me me my brother would her thinking she  would be good at casting us as Ariel but  I guess there was a girl from who play  named Hayley was her name  Haley Bailey it's Mikasa Arielle I don't  know who she is I never heard of her  name so I have no idea so I can have  very much say but I just know I have not  heard of her so I don't know I'm not  sure on that but to me yeah my brother  and I would think that glue to me Chloe  grace Moretz would play good perfect  playing as Ariel but that's as thousands  of us though but the response of that  Jacob Tremblay was put boys flounder now  Jacob Tremblay he got ya whop race for  the film with Owen Wilson called wonder  you got a lot of praise for that well as  he played that baby play that kid from  the predator no that's the kid who went  with a frickin predator mass where it  goes out trick-or-treatin where it goes  and shoots and blows it kills a guy in  blows up the house as well not thinking  nothing of it it's like Oh blew my house  okay goes and walks away look isn't it  never happens  yeah that kid yeah dick u-turn that's  Jacob Trimble he goes and he's no voice  flounder now but I'm gonna talks with a  list of Melissa McCarthy she's gonna  play Ursula which maybe I could see I  would know who flew fuku play Ursula but  if I think about it maybe I could see  her if there's a trailer when it come  out then I would probably see myself  maybe Melissa McCarthy as Ursula  then um this is with a girl um uh how  about fauna our finer who she's gonna  boy scuttle so now in this film  scuttle is gonna be a female instead of  male like with Buddy Hackett voice so  all of our finer she's gonna voice  scuttle great and I don't know because a  lot of there's nobody with always  switching like gender swapping for  different characters another film so  and then for who's playing against  playing Eric Prince Eric Harry Styles he  is the one from the from the from the  boy band One Direction and which he is  he guess he starred in the movie Krystal  Christopher Nolan's on Dunkirk I've seen  Dunkirk not entirely sure on their ivory  watch Dunkirk Genet if I fall if I see  if I fully like Dunkirk or not but yeah  Harry Styles he was in it which I  wouldn't notice I will be who is his  I've heard one direction but I'm not fan  of I've never got a family with and I  wasn't a fan of any of those bands like  I'm one direction or I'm always of the  one there was a bad I can't think of it  though but still he's gonna play as  Prince Eric and then playing King Triton  which I was like really  he's been cast as King Triton Javier  Bardem as King Triton yeah I remember I  didn't know who won the Oscar for  playing shigar from no control men  playing captain Salazar from the fifth  Pirates of Caribbean film dead men tell  no tales and um our lead back are our  main bad guy in um the James Bond film  Skyfall he's playing King Triton  yeah  so does the kasev right now for the live  action okay I suppose be really good get  a 2020 release we'll see on that because  you got the look guys we got Moulin  that's coming out first so so male  coming up this opposed to come up maybe  later in 2020 but yeah that's desert  cast for a live action of of the Little  Mermaid but it's not going to touch on  the classic of this film not by mothball  miles not by a longshot but the voice  cast in this Jodi Benson Oh always be  great as a voicing Ariel Samuel E Wright  as Sebastian you know under the sea  well some as a Kenneth Mars King Trident  blackest cuttle crystal Daniel Barnes  Prince Eric Pat Carroll as Ursula Jason  Mariners as flounder those supporting  the whole voice cast is a really great  job and I'm gonna mention that is  directed by that our two directors Ron  Clement and John Musker  where they both together they directed  the bullet through directed the Great  Mouse Detective  then this film and afterwards they  direct Aladdin Hercules Treasure Planet  Princeton's the Frog and then Moana oh  they both did a wonderful job with the  Little Mermaid I think it I would say  well I like all I like all the movies  now the great mountain his classic same  with Aladdin Hercules but I think this  is my favorite to film from both of them  I mean one is good princes the Frog  tritscher Planet a review Treasure  Planet and I called it a bit underrated  but but Hercules Aladdin over the to  film the fishing from the Renaissance  you know the Disney rented us on the  site they I think this is their this is  their best film definitely another  classic masterpiece for such an iconic  character like Ariel Mabel did a great  job around the music by Allen mekin who  did the music for Beauty and the Beast  as well wonderful musics the score the  songs are classic as well definitely  classic specially under the sea and the  animation from 1999 is spot on and then  we're going direct spawn to more sequels  well sequel and then a prequel which was  gonna come after next  The Little Mermaid to returned to the  sea now this was a is one of my favorite  of the directed video Disney sequels  they did during the time this is one of  my favorites one of the better ones to  me I have to say so I'll get to this one  though but then um the prequel Ariel's  beginning honestly didn't honestly care  for that one because it's a prequel  which leads up to the first film to me I  think it's a pointless one cuz not I'm  not Bhosle bit overall fan of prequels  anyway cuz how is it good I was gonna be  difficult for how we know in the first  for the first movie anyway so yeah  Ariel's beginning I'd honestly don't  care for but this one I think I find  much better and I think it's a better  seat as beerus equal than Ariel's  beginning especially when they say it's  one of the better of the directed video  uh  films like they were doing at the time  so yeah but this look at this will be  next but I like to me I like returns to  see but this is a this is a dizzy is a  Disney masterpiece in and of itself so  yeah so I only care more for going  further than this what more can I say  it's a classic much more classic it's  another Disney masterpiece like Tarzan  The Lion King beating the Beast so yeah  I said well it's almost 1/3 missin like  I said I probably wasn't Google but  anyway what market it was more like I  say though yeah oh and another I know  another Disney masterpiece I definitely  know when I give five stars at five 10  at ten whatever so yeah The Little  Mermaid one mark I say we don't just  take this in class I get some at another  Disney masterpiece deadly reason I felt  a smile on my face  thanks for watching and stay tuned for  the next review of the sequel Blue  Mermaid 2 returns to see  sleeping for that makes her watch and  like said watch The Little Mermaid not  seen it please over a highly recommended  to a great Disney film such a for a  great iconic Disney character as well  thanks for watching stay tuned later.
